Hi guys, ive got a bit of a dillema. I'm looking to change my gearbox as the one i have will need a rebuild in the future.

I've got hold of a second hand gearbox so its ready for the change...

the dillema is that I have a friend who is a trained mechanic (has worked for Nissan, and Porsche) and he's opened up a new garage. Now he is offering to fit my 'box for next to nothing. Is it wise i do this as is it pretty much the same as changing a 'box on most cars or are there anything he needs to take note of.

I know 'you get what you pay for' and so on, but he is a mate and he'll give a warranty.

ps. the 'box will also be coming under warranty

Honestly, what would you do?

Cant see any reason why this box change should present any real probs to a mechanic with some experience.

After doing a couple of Pulsar GTIR`s the skyline should be a doddle

Changing a GTR gearbox is really easy if you have the garage equipment. The only hard thing is its weight. It's a 2 man job to pull it off.

I'd certainly let him do it..:)

Ditto.... Pretty straightforward, but definitely a 2 man job.
