Hi, does anyone use a trickle charger through the 12v socket and hence know if it works please? Peter

If the 12v socket works with the ignition off it will be fine if not it wont charge

you could always re wire it to be a circuit 30 (perminent feed)

I put the clips on the terminals and pass the cable out on the corner headlight/bonnet and the bonnet closes with no issues

I also attached the ring clips on to the terminals but fed the wire upwards so it popped up between the bonnet and windscreen as there is the soft rubber seal between them which doesn't damage the wire.

Just to add a bit to this thread, I discovered recently that whilst the cigarette lighter might not work with the ignition off, if you apply power to it, the MFD lights up and is operational. Which suggests you could charge through the 12v (although I don't know for sure) albeit only short term (eg to get the car started), as the screen will be on.
