Hi chaps,

I have read somewhere that motor manufacturers are not permitted to create monsters which can not be maintained by your average Joe with rudimentary tools, of a reasonable price. Specialist tools such as the Consult III are not reasonably priced, in my view. And I don't think buying a small white iPod is in order either.

With that said, I'm beginning to suspect that we may be able to trigger a clutch relearn, possibly from the MFD, instead of having to take it to Nissan or the like.

Has anyone ever launched an attack on the MFD, to see?

Cheers,
Paul

It cannot and never will be able to be done.

It's like saying you can tune your telly by fiddling with the microwave.

Pure curiosity: What sort of cash do ConsultIII with associated GTR paraphernalia go for and how easy are they to get hold of?

I take your point CC, but the MFD is on the CAN bus, and we know of at least 1 hidden screen.

For example, the BMWs SCT can perform a clutch learn by something like AC off, transmition in N, foot on brake, start engine and leave foot on brake for 30 seconds. Ooo, I think the drivers door needs to be open too.

I reckon the GT-R will have something along those lines too, if not simpler.

I take it you didn't need to think long about it after finding out the price :chuckle:
Indeed. LOL
I think most of that is the over priced Panasonic tough book.
I'll have to do some more investigating because my warranty is out in September, which is when I start doing it all myself.

the notebook is reasonable 600+/- but, the GT-R card is like 3K.

^ I take it that is a 'official' version;) How would that play with Nissan Firmware as far as updates go? Are softrware updates freely available to the public, or is it a Nissan subscription type affair?

Dunno. I'm just trying to find a way of triggering a clutch relearn without having to go anywhere first. :)

I'm pretty sure a procedure is in place, but the guy I know who used to work at Nissan is in the states for a while. I'll ask him when he gets back.
