so I've decided my R34 is going but instead of selling the normal way I thought I'd try something different.

I'm running a compeition to win my car
for £30.
one question to enter (means it's not a raffle) and technically isn't gambling.

I've owned the car two years and enjoyed it massively but I feel a chnage and id like to see it used more.
I'm not really doing this for a major profit there's 2000 entries, which comes to £60k
fees to run this are massive.
£1000 to solicitors for terms and conditions
over £3k on adverts, website design wasn't free and promotions cost me. plus each payment has a fee from the payment service.
aswell as the amount of time taken to reply to messages and comments.

all in I'll probably get exactly what the cars worth.

been going 3 weeks and coming up to 500 tickets sold, slow but steady.

I did ask mods for permission to post about 3 weeks ago but I had no reply.
I hope this is allowed but I thought it's not something some members should miss out on.

website is winajapcar.com
Facebook is win a r34 gtr

Draw will be done when tickets are sold
and it will be live on Facebook.
I'm trying to sort our doing the draw at a car show so it's public.

all the terms and conditions can be read on the website and loads of frequently asked questions too.

This is 100% legitamite and to be honest just wanted to do something different.

hopefully it goes to plan

Fun way to sell it but the car was bought for £33k ? 2 years ago - so fair bit of profit ;-) ...enough to move to the 35.

Hi yep that is correct but I've spent £13k on the car in the last two years correcting things and modifying it.

If you looked at the spec list you would see it's far from standard.

The costs to do this are massive
advertisment is about £3k if it doesnt go on to long the longer it goes on the more it costs.
Solicitors fees for the terms and conditions were just over £1k.
Website design wasn't cheap or the domain
and each payment I get gets a fee taken of it from the payment service.

so in all if goes a couple of months I'll only get around 52k tops and if i run a few promo's I'll get less.

plus it's alot of work answering questions and replying to comments and send confirmation emails.

I don't see it as a massive proffit to be honest, I'm doing it so someone can win a car they would otherwise never afford due to the price increase.

if I don't sell all the tickets needed I'll be doing a cash prize minus the fees and someone will win that.
and the car will go to a specialist to be sold for me.

Wish you all the best. It's a shame you are selling up but onwards and upwards.

yep it is indeed he's a good guy, I enjoyed making that video with him.

it's alot cleaner now than it was then too, the paint has been sorted and a few mechanical things and ceramic coating is my new favourite.

Sorry. I had meant to reply to your PM. Typically this kind of thing is frowned upon but at least you***8217;ve done it properly.

Personally I think you***8217;re dreaming if you think you***8217;ll sell 2000 tickets and am not sure it will be more than a competition to win the unused entry fees. (Less all of your costs)

Doesn***8217;t sit right with me

So, Will be watching with interest.

no worries at all mook I know life gets in the way.

well see, but a guy did a similar thing last month with a r32 gtr which was a cat d he sold 1200 tickets in 3 weeks at £25 each
only differnece he already had a big social media following
my page has over 2000 likes now, and coming up for 500 tickets sold.
I think tickets will sell quicker the closer to the target we get, but I can extend the date as needed.

agian thanks for letting me leave this up
I'm doing my best to make this go well and I'm doing it to the letter of the law.

I entered the comp for that 32, and the one prior for the S15. The guy who won the S15 lives in the same town as me.

Seen a number of these comps cropping up lately. Hopefully all your tickets will sell, you need to reeeally push the social media aspect of it, that's the primary seller. Good luck.

Good luck with the sale/competition - did you try selling it traditionally before? Appreciate there's the potential to make a bit more cash this way... but also seems like a lot of time & expense involved in the process too.

I didn't try selling it before as I know how long it can take to sell a r34.
not many people will hand over that much money on a private sale, so I thought id try this way first.
if i don't sell all the tickets someone will still be getting at least 10k in prize money as it stands now.

Think it was around 500 sold based on something I saw a few days ago (might be on the FB page).

Hope it does all sell (not just because I have got a ticket myself). It does seem quite strange at first but it is actually a much nicer way of selling on rather than a straight private sale as you know whoever wins will be a satisfied customer!

There is potential for the owner to make more money this way but given the effort involved I couldn***8217;t begrudge that. Tickets are also discounted (i.e. 3 tickets can be bought at a lower price per ticket) so it may not be much of an increase at all.

My issue is the context. If they sold scratch cards with a 1 in 2000 chance of winning £50k they wouldnt sell.

But I dont gamble so maybe I***8217;m wrong.
I understand what you mean mook.

Although people spend alot of money on the lottery every week and you have a 1 in 8,145,060 chance of winning.

same with scratch cards most top prizes have all ready been won but they can continue to advertise them, when you may never win the top prize, and winning over £250 on a scratch card carries a 1.2% chance so relatively small.

I did try 1000 tickets at £60 each but alot of people moaned at the cost so I had to cut the cost and double the ticket amount.

at least with this you can improve your chances as much as you want to, by buying more tickets.

I will update ticket sales this Friday but should be in the 600 region or more.

my store only tells me order numbers, but each order could be 2,3,4 or 5 tickets so I have to actualy count each one, which is a massive pain in the arse.

follow the Facebook page for more constant updates it's " win a r34 gtr"
