Hey folks,
just getting round to rebuilding my engine.
Can anyone tell me what to torque the conrod bolts to. The manual shows them torqued to 16nm then re-tightened with an angle wrench (I think...). Don't have one of those doo-hickys! Do I really need one or will a set torque do (I think the conrod bolts were around 45-50nm on the CA18det).

Many thx,
Jonny

Torque

Hey Jonny
That is correct 16 nm then 60 degrees on an angle guage, using an angle guage gives more accurate and consistent results than torque. An easy fix if you don't want to buy a guage, tighten to 16nm as the manual suggests, each conrod nut has 6 sides and 6 points, 360 degrees divided by 6=60 degrees. so mark where a point or flat of the nut is, then tighten to the next point or flat, that will give you 60 degrees...
