Hi,

I'm new on this bbs, but I have a couple of queries.

I am currently considering the purchase of an R34 -GTR (Ideally V-spec)

I can't afford a new one, so I am looking at buying one that is 1-2 years old. I am unsure of whether to go down the official UK route, or the grey route.

My current car is an Evo V which was a grey import which I have had for 2 years.

Can anyone recommend a grey importer? I know that Middlehurst & Abbey are very highly rated for official cars...

Finally, how much should I expect to pay?

Many thanks,

Andy Hedges

Hi Andy and welcome.

Middlehurst are the only suppliers of new UK Skylines in this country. Oh and thank God for 'em otherwise Skylines may have not have been as big as they are. I believe they have some left so may be well worth a call although I believe they have a limited amount of colours. http://www.middlehurst.co.uk/

As for brand new imports their aren't any around. I think I may have had the last one last year ???? Due to the Yen situation people aren't bringing the 34 in, although saying that I think Shin at Prospec, http://www.prospec-ms.co.uk/ ,may have a couple of secondhand ones so he could be worth a call as well. This again is due to the Yen value against sterling. DCD mentioned on another thread they seem to be holding up quite well value wise in Japan so this reflects in them being expensive over here.

But saying that 34's are around and you'll just have to dig around for 'em. I believe their is a guy about to sell a Silver one on here with a few Nismo bits on it as well so maybe worth going back through the recent threads for it.

I am sure though that if your intentions are definetly to get one then here is probably the best place to find out where they are.

As for UK or import spec. UK of course comes with a warranty but is a bit restrictive if you want to go over 500bhp I believe. Better check with Middlehurst on that one though. The UK ones also have a couple of extra oil coolers, upgraded MFD, leather interior and a couple of other bits and bobs which I am sure someone will tell you about, plus I beleive insurance maybe cheaper for UK models. Imported cars are usually cheaper to purchase but as mentioned are a bit thin on the ground. You can get warranties for these, as I have, and they also have the Xenon h/lights in 'em. Well it matters to me anyway  .

No doubt others will help you out here so sit back, wait for the replies and make your mind up. I'm sure you won't regret it.

See Ya.

There is a picture or two in the "buy & sell" section of the site...looks like a really good car!

This is what official UK R34s have:

Connolly leather interior(black or red)
Mph speedo
MFD version 1 upgrade
No xenons (halogens...same ones used on the R33)
Alarm/immobilizer
Engine Oil cooler
Gearbox oil cooler
Rear diff oil cooler

I think thats it....

That UK R34...

Afternoon all,
Yep, the car is available now, it's in Autotrader/Top Marques/Autocar and a couple of other lower league publications.

It was almost sold before we advertised it (see various other threads/postings from Orange, but he really wanted a blue car, which he's now found...and has also just become a dad too!).

You wouldn't believe the quantity of 'cough and splutters' who've called...I could (but won't...or will I?) name one particular bloke who rang last Sunday and said he was driving over from Dudley immediately. He kept calling and texting with a succession of messages: been pulled for a routine check/be there in 5, cops are still following/got lost on the ring road in Leics (that one's actually feasable)...this went on for a couple of hours...he said he'd meet me in a particular place, gave me his reg no and so on...then just never showed. We called him and withheld the no...he answered, and said his car had broken down and was waiting for his sister to give him a push...I mean, why go to all of that effort. Twat! In fact, I'm tempted to stick his name and no up here, and then if anybody comes in after a few beers and feels bored they can ring him up and ask if he's sold his Merc....whaddayareckon?

R34 Stopped Production

Copied from another forum :-

From February 2002 R34 orders will stop, with the deliveries of the final units in March 2002. Nissan Japan has no immediate plan to replace the Model.
Won't affect the GTS version at this stage.
Just ordered a new GTR-34 V-Spec II Type N1 for a European customer, and my supplying (Tokyo) dealer confirmed, it's official.

Name kept hidden to protect the innocent

Don,t know if its true perhaps Dino can answer that form the heart of skyline land.
Or anybody else for that matter.
Best regards Alan

"Is it fast?"
"Depends what you've got at the mo..."
"Escort"
"Cossie?"
"No, an Escort."

Righto. There may well be 450 spare bhp for sale if he buys it...
