I am in a position to claim GTR mileage but need to have some kind of official rate. I do around 8000 miles per year and have a situation where I can get paid for 400 miles. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The tax maximum s 45p. It's more than that.

15 mpg at £1.50/litre

£2000/10k miles tyres

£1000/12k mikes servicing

Add those up then actor in depreciation.

I sed to be horrified by GTR depreciation but it's actually astoundingly good.

If you consider the cheapest 09 cars are £35k and were £50k new, it's less than 33% in three years. The rule of thumb is 50%.

When I considered a MY11 or MY10, my rough stab in the dark was:

MY11
£8000 depreciation,
£460 road tax,
£600 servicing,
£1200 tyres,
£3000 fuel (for 8000 miles driven sensibly at 18mpg),

Total = £13,260.
As said above the maximum is 45p per mile. So at £1.66p you are a little over.

Even if you completely remove all depreciation you are still over. :chuckle:

Although the max allowable for tax purposes is 45p I don't think there's anything to stop you claiming more if you are permitted to do so but the excess will I think be ta ed as a benefit in kind if it's your employer paying it. I'm no expert on this though so check it out if unsure.

I hate these 'ooh isn't it expensive to run' type threads where people actually work it out to the nearest penny. Just enjoy it!
It's expensive to run. There. Simple. Like any other comparable car.
And in any case, a MY11 costs £499 to cover all servicing for three years.

Is that not if its a company car - I'm sure if its a private vehicle used for business then the mileage allowance is higher

+1....I knew it would be expensive and make sacrifices for it....you only upset yourself when you start adding it up.
