hard to say exact figures but yes around 600lbs.

initially I was going to go flat out and throw caution to the wind but the more i read about rod failures the more i started to worry lol.

i think that decision was the right one, this thing is very fast, i am happy for now.

Had a couple maps from Ben tonight. Ohhhh I like:) Took me ages to get rid of the 5 month old fuel in the tank. Did not want to rag it with rubbish fuel.

not finished yet but feels very strong. At this point deffo worth the effort and cash.

turbos are big with great potential i reckon. around 1.2bar to the red line and only 36% wastegate duty cycle.

these would be awesome @1.8bar.

Fingers crossed it will be dry tomorrow for more testing.
Congratulations, you must be happy.
Just a thought: maybe get on a dyno, fine
tune with ben's emails for fine tuning, safety
and final power figures achieved.

Parts are mounting up, cant fit them quick enough.

*CP Pistons
*Manley Turbo Tuff I Beam Rods. Quoted as "drop-in" rods. Weight 733 ounces OEM are 724 ounces. Combined with the Pistons weight should be more or less the same. Good for 1250bhp + I will never run that much.
*Sound deadening. Loads of it.
*Coilovers
*Whiteline Anti Roll bars

I have to confess I don't think it will be me building the engine:eek:

I just don't have the time, it took me close on 3 months just to do the turbos. I have found a guy way up north hear who will undertake the rebuild. Fingers crossed he will do a good job. I have grilled him enough to know he knows what he is speaking about.

Provisionally booked in for 2nd week in September.

Not an easy question.

This year, my turbos flat out so around 900bhp and 800lbs torque

Next year, either more power Prob over 1000bhp (rods can do over 1200bhp) or I get fed up and buy something else, not sure yet.

Rod and piston Weight.

OEM Pistons...445g
OEM Rods......724.6g

Total 1169g

CP Pistons-...413g
Manley Rods.733g

Total 1146g

Different is 1.97% lighter, within the recommended 2%+/- Bob weight tolerance.

Looking at the so called HKS drop in set up it is 2.3% quite a bit over.

Had a silencer fitted to my Y pipe last time home to try and quieten things down. It made me hate driving the car. The drone was just as loud and was everwhere in the rev range.

got it cut back out again today, oh what a difference, real noisy till 2k then things calm down. drone is just about ok and I have the rip back at 3k, loud but fun. I like my car again. amazing how such a little change can put you off things.

just cap the boost a little and the box should be fine for a while, mine is restrained to 1.5 bar which holds about 700 lbft to 5000 rpm then upto 1.75 bar and peaks 760 lbft, your turbos will be a bit lazier aswell, as long as transition into boost is smooth and midrange is kept sensible it should be fine imo.

but a balls out map from the off will end in failure very quickly id of thought, Id like to just have 1.8 bar bang straight in hard but its not worth it as something will break.

also with massive low end torque grip will be an issue aswell imo

good luck with it paul, good to see someone doing a homebuild
What turbo do you use, scooby?
Do you use stock rods?

Tried a few places but difficult to find someone who is reasonable AND who has 1/2 a brain.

YHM. Think I have found a guy though.
