Cheers Derek. Yeah it all checks out ok so far. I'm on the fence over the spoiler. I'll try source an oem one and swap them over during the year if i get it. I was onto revenue this morning and they said that they are treating Northern Ireland like the rest of europe. If the car has been registered in Northern Ireland before 01/01/2021 on the V5 its not subject to any custom related charges or vat which is great. I won't be able to VRT it until i sell the R33 but I'm not really fussed about that to be honest. I'll throw it in the shed til the R33 sells.

Also bare in mind a 2008 car will probably have a jap console and unless the tyres sensors have been changed will not work.
Personally I think there are better 2009 cars available for that money- It just depends if you like the additional mods this one has?

Yeah that has crossed my mind but im not too fussed over it. The issue I have is that if i buy a car in mainland uk instead of northern ireland, ill have to pay 23% vat onto of the purchase price. Also when i have to register the car, we have a system called VRT (vehicle registration tax) and its 37% of the value revenue determine the car to be worth. If the car is old the vrt is cheaper. Id happily have a 2009 uk car but the risk is that i could end up paying around €70k all in to have it on the road while this car will cost me around €55k all in.

Spoiler mount might be reusing the existing holes. The carbon plate looks similar position to stock. You'll be able to know for sure when boot is opened as you'll be able to see the fixings.

I like the colour. Is it a respray or a wrap?
As far as i know its a respray but will check when I head up to view it. I've attached a picture below. You can see the centre piece as a little metal blank. From what ive seen the spoiler seems to be mounted in the same spot as the oem one is? Also its a R35 specific wing so you would think it would just bolt on to the original holes/mounting points?

Probably does reuse the existing holes then, no worries if you wanted to switch spoilers. The original one houses the high-level brake light but not sure if its needed for Irish MOTs?

Don't know if you already have/or have had a R35 but if it helps some things I learnt are worth doing when you view the car:

  • see if you can get it up on a ramp and undertrays off (to check subframes, they can rust with age, as do undertray fixings, brackets etc)
  • check the main carbon propshaft from the bellhousing to the gearbox for any play (up/down/in/out). Its the play you need to avoid, they can rattle anyway even if replaced. If you can move the propshaft in/out by hand it could be worn. Probably 1k Euro to fix IF the downpipes come off OK. If they don't then you could be looking at an engine out job and that's another couple of days labour cost to factor in plus fluids.....so another 1.5k on top
  • check inside of tyres for wear. Not that easy to see unless you really have a proper look in there.
  • check lower boot strut mounting points. They can rust too (water collects in the drain channels which clog up easily). Its a big job to fix in terms of getting behind the panel and therefore expensive.

When your buying a 12 year old or so car that’s expensive to repair then take an extra set of eyes with you, ideally someone who does pre purchase inspections.

Remember these imported cars have a lot of little different parts fitted and not seen by the eye.

Rust is a major concern as mentioned above. Rear subframes can be very bad and not cheap to replace And you’ll be looking at a minimum of a days labour to swap If the rest of the bits are in good Nick.

Rear diffuser brackets often corrode, probably worth buying some in advance.

Kaiser does some rear stainless products as well for the small panels that sit in each rear corner, terribly expensive to buy new from dealers.

Most of the fasteners corrode or snap upon removal, different grades of stainless available or blast the originals if they come out and you like the std look. Apple cider vingear works well on eating the rusty bits.

Having said that ive seen nice and rotten early cars and same for dba’s. eba’s are still newish but I’d still want to check one the same.

Good luck

Cheers lads thanks for the advice,

I'm going to bring two of my mates with me who both work in the motortrade and have japanese cars so it should help. Ill ask the garage when i get down to put the car on a ramp so i can see the underneath. The dealer sent me more photos and receipts for the bellhousing, steering lock module and gearbox clips. He also sent me on other receipts from litchfield for servicing work and maps for both engine and gearbox. Heres the photos he sent me after the car was detailed recently.
