Blue Peter time - Go to B&Q and buy some 18mm copper pipe insulation foam - 6 meters is about £24 and whilst you there buy a can of spray carpet tile glue.

Then all you need are 8 small round magnets and a few old t shirts. Cut the pipe insulation along the opposite side to the slit that is already there for installing it over pipe. You should now have 2 long strips of have a cylinder pipe, glue the magnets into the inside recess with a hot glue gun. Once the glue has cooled cut the t-shirts up into 2" strips and then spray them with the carpet glue. Press the pipe (flat side onto the glue on the back of the t-shirt strips and leave to dry. Trim off any excess and you now have one 3 meter strip of magnetic door guard for either side of the GTR - they can be gently bent into loops like a hose and stored in the boot.
