With my warranty about to expire next month I'm looking at buying downpipes and a Y-pipe (catless). There are many options to choose from with big differences in price. My question is, would cheaper versions really differ that much from more expensive ones? E.g. less drone, etc. I'm leaning towards going for more affordable options as I'm not convinced spending double/triple would make an arguable difference. Or am I mistaken? Thanks for your views.

Generally you get what you pay for but I'm sure there are reasonably priced ones that are good. You can go with one of the main tuners pipes or if I was you do a poll and ask people what they have and rate the sound quality and lack of drone.

gotboost is a reasonable cost and higher quality and very cost effective. sounds good and lots of reviews mention no drone. are others like it? maybe, but I've seen and heard of problems from the cheaper stuff... not that you don't see some issues from the more well known names at higher costs.

I'm sure there are some good brands offered by the vendors here. I'd look at some reviews. maybe you will get some feedback on other brands to avoid those that have drone or spotty welds or or poor quality copies.

I'd stick with cast down pipes, AMS have the industry's best on sound, power, flow and quality. rexspeed, and greddy have a bit more affordable dp, certainly a big difference from the AMS. a few others too.

plenty of non cast dp's will crack or have warped flanges... except for the higher quality manufactured brands. stay away from xs power and other rebadged parts from the same poor quality distributors.

remember, china can make good stuff, but it would cost roughly the same in your own markets depending on currency changes of course. but want something mass produced in quantity at low prices then china is the right place, and some items might be great, it all depends. your iPhone is pretty decent, but its also not cheap.

^^^^ What he did say, you shouldn't be running downpipes and Y-Pipes without a map to suit :)

ACSpeedtech do quality downpipes and they are not stupid expensive either, my car sounds great and I still retain the std Backbox ;)
