I have a set of defi link meters installed. During normal driving egt shows aprox 400-450 celcius. I had a run 1/4 mile with .8 bar of boost. during shifting from 1st to 2nd I had an nice explosion sound in my exhaust. Even with a nice flame. But after the run i had checked my peak meter readings and read 1100+ celcius on my egt. This is not possible for sure,. but what caused this high peak temp. Could it be something during the 1st and 2nd speed shift? Its not running lean because of the color i see on my muffler tips ( black ) Today i am going to instal a innovate afr wide band sensor to do a re-run. What do you guy,s think. By the way its a rb25det with some mods but still stock turbo.
thanks

mike,

If your EGT says that the peak was 1100, it's probably right.

Many Ecu's will run momentarily lean when gently lifting off at high is revs.

I saw 1050°C on my EGT gauge a number of years ago on an R33 with a Tomei ECU.

The car was fine apart from this and ran well at all RPM's
