I was wondering if you can tell whether an RB26 engine is from and R32 or an R33.

Is it true that the RB26 from an R32 doesnt have variable valve timing and therefore would be no good to fit into and R33? How can you tell from looking that an engine doesnt have variable valve timing?

The RB26 was fitted to all GTR models, R32, R33 & R34. It doesnt have variable valve timing.

it has something else though variable something, inlet?
i would say the turbo down pipes as they have a different size o2 sensor from 32 to 33 i think.

The turbo`s were different on all 3 models.
The closest you can get to variable valve timing is HKS Vcam.

Maybe your thinking of the GTS-t's .

The R32 (RB20) doesnt have variable valve timing ,
but the R33 (RB25) does.

I had an engine delivered to my garage and they thought it might have been the wrong one. Thinking it should have vvt like the rb25. But it is an rb26 and is right in that respect, but not what i was expecting in terms of condition.
