Does anybody else notice their engine hunting at low revs?

My first mile is always at about 10-15 mph due to speed bumbs etc. During this period the engine seems to hunt a little. I don't get it when the engine is warm.

Am I the only one or is this just how the engine timing/set-up runs?

I have a boat where the engines hunt at idle (whether warm or cold) and mechanics assure me is perfectly normal for high performance engines.

pretty much every car I've ever owned has done this.

My diesel Merc Ml is a bugger for it. Sometimes up to 2k at idle, the back down again.

Never worried me.

great sounds like it is the same for all, so nothing to worry about. Just wanted to make sure the timing/fuel flow on my car wasnt different.
