Hi all, I have a problem with my R33 GTR. I think it's spun a bearing, certainly sounds that way and it's knocking once warmed up.
I dropped the oil and opened up the filter to check for metal deposits/swarf but couldn't see any.
I understand about the only sure way to know the problem is bearing related will be visual inspection by removing the sump but I've read that it may be easier to remove the engine than try to remove the sump in situ. Are there any other checks anyone would recommend to confirm the problem before I begin removing the engine?

I'm planning to remove the engine myself then take it to a specialist for repair/rebuild, unless anyone would advise otherwise?

Thanks for your input!
