You can safely remove it, the ecu does not need it. Its only there as a warning (for the cat I presume) if your exhaust gas gets too hot it will light up the engine check light on the dash.

I have removed mine without consequence :thumbsup:

You can, but it isn't the ideal placement for it, too far from the cylinders.

Most people who install them insert them into either the manifold runners or the collector before the turbo. That is where mine lives, threaded into the 'y' on the rear stock manifold.

Surely if it's only on one manifold you'll only get a reading for 3 cylinders? Is there a screw for it there or do you have to tap one in?

When I bought the car it was already fitted, just drilled and tapped, hasn't cracked yet and I've had it for almost 3 years now.

Only reads from the rear 3 cylinders, but gives you an indication. Preferably you would have one in each indivual runner, six total, but how often do you really need to know that.
