i tell a lie, i've just checked the invoice and rod went for 800cc, at a cost of £480 reduced from £540, but i'm not sure which brand
glad i checked!

The only down side to running big injectors as far as I'm aware of is when the engine is at idle the duty cycle will be very low(in my case 1%-1.2%). This may lead to emmision problems when it comes to MOT time, if you catch my drift.

rod bell specced 720cc injectors for my rb30 with 28/60-7's, and we'll be running 1.5 bar when run in, also tomei fuel pump, standard rail, pfc dJetro so no afm's, so 720 should suffice?

Why only -7's with an RB30 ? thought those motors were good for 1000+hp ?

would have thought that a much bigger turbo would have gone on there nicely ? however the spool rate on those will be extremely good with the extra engine capacity....

yes the OS lump is good for 1300ish, and the increased capacity will aid spool time, but a bigger turbo will always lag more than a smaller one.
many big power cars would struggle to overtake a tractor on a country lane as they won't hit a straight long enough to get the turbos spinning
my aim was to build the best possible point to point spec skyline, for real use on real roads.
for this i required the smallest turbos i could get away with, without them overspeeding at high revs
add to that there is a limit to how much power you can deploy on the road; i would venture that my car with 620ish would be quicker than cars with 800, 1000bhp etc due to faster spool up (instant) and 620hp being about as much as you can really make use of

so in essence i've chosen driveability and real world speed over big numbers and big lag

with the bonus that my boost gauge now doubles as a throttle position switch....:) :) :)

turbo lag's easy to get past - I push in the clutch, slam the throttle, drop the clutch - no more lag :D

yes but -7's are only good for 5-530bhp ?

620hp is for the -5's...
thought the -7's were the bigger ones...

bugger, wrong twice in one thread!

all i know is mine are the larger type, aka disco potatoes and good for 620ish

guess i should stick to ranting....

i have them on mine and yes you will be very impressed - they work real well on mine which has 2.7L but with 3.0L they will be mint :)

Pete, when does your second pump go in? Have you figured out how to drop it in? I suppose a simple vertical bracket can be bolted up, and just have the pumps attached to the thing....

I am praying mightily, mightily I tell you, that a 2nd pump solves all fuel pressure problems, feeds the poor, and brings about world peace :D

Cradle

What about making another cradle for both pumps, shouldnt be hardto do and can then be put in the tank and slipped into the original location...

i'm still running everything in @ 1 bar and 5000rpm limit

but i've done 2000kms now, so it's back oop north for the full monty, just as soon as i finish up the interior with adrenaline. hopefully be done by the end of the week :clap:

Just securly attach it to the pump that is in there, some strong tie wraps will do the job just fine... the hard bit is getting the new line into the tank to attach to the pump.

Personally, Im hoping that the FPR will be the problem and i should know that in a couple of hours.. will post again soon as i know.

Im 100% sure a 2nd pump will sort it if not..

What FPR are you running just now?

Swirl pots - same as a surge tank? My car will be used mostly on track..... do you think it wise to get a surge tank system?

Im currently running a Sard FPR, however i have recently been informed that there are 2 types - 1 is up to 450hp and the other is much more - they are both identical apart from the size of the diaphragm inside and i dont know if i had the latter or not....so this today they are trying a different FPR to see if it is the cause or not.

As for swirl pots - im not sure as to what level they are required or not, i generally tend to keep the fuel tank more than half full all the time and i would never thrash the car with a low fuel level in it so im not sure if it would have any issues with picking up only air from the tank..

Maybe someone here could advise further on the benefits of a swirl pot ?

fingers crossed for ya Pete...

as far as I know, swirl pots are basically the fuelling equivalent of oil pan baffles - to prevent fuel starvation under hard G forces. Nothing else really.

My second Apexi pump arrived today - sealed in oil and vacuum packed. Didn't know fuel pumps came like that. My Sard RJ fuel pressure regulator arrived - the size of it is huge compared to the Nismo FPR - maybe 3 times times the diameter? My fuel lines and fuel rail have yet to arrive though.

Pete, when you added your fuel lines, did you just add rubber lines under the car? -6AN, or what size?
