Hi guys,

I have an 09 GTR R35 Stage 4 around 650bhp.

I have got a really bad gearbox grind, it only happens when the box is in ''R'' mode and im at high revs backing off, its not like a clutch noise its sounds nasty. Its every gear too, fine going up the box, just backing off and engine braking so to speak. Only when driving hard too.

Its had the valves cleaned and the clutch leaned recently but it hasn't helped, any ideas what it could be?

Its got Dodson gear-stoppers and cir-clips, EcuTek 2014 box map too.

Any help would be great before i spend a fortune haha. :bawling:

I have no idea what that could be. Have you had the bell housing replaced?
Standard brakes or aftermarket massives?

Suffice to say, I wish I hadn't started buggering around with mine.
I'm chasing down a rich running condition at the moment.
Looks like it could be EVAP causing it. Makes the box clunk when
downshifting from 3rd to 2nd at tick over coasting.

It was soooo sweet before I mapped it. Now it's just a pain in the arse.

Good luck with the hunt. :)

That's what's always worried me about going further.

I run stage 2 Ecutek and still super sweet. Are you running Cobb or Ecutek?

I started off with Cobb, then the car developed it's current issue, at about 11k miles on the clock and 30 months old. Done 27k miles now. Still bugging me.
Switched to EcuTek, lord knows why. Running stock JF09D and JF51 at the moment, trying to nail the problem. Issue is evident when stock too.
Thought I'd cracked it last week. Cleaned my MAFs and all was sweet for 2 days and trips to work and back. Just how I remember it when it was new. :)
Fitted two new paper air filters, slammed the bonnet shut, and it's back. Doh!

But on the plus side, I know for a fact that it is faulty, and I'm not just imagining it, as has been suggested. :)
