Hello again Guys.....Its been quite a while since we last spoke......I`m wanting some advice really.......

Could you please tell me if the GTR 32`s RB2.6 engine is stronger than the latter RB2.6`s used in the GTR 33....The reason i`m asking....Is,I was going to get a Gtr 33 some while back,And,After doing some lengthy time on the phone to the specialists..Was told the Gtr33`s Rb26 motors have had cases where the no`s 5 & 6 big end bearings wore at relatively lowish milages...(Anywhere between 40-60k miles)Rendering a rebuild to the bottom end....I was also told some did`nt do it till 70-80k miles...And some did`nt have a problem at all.....??????.

This put me off purchasing one to be honest....However,After looking up some megga horsepower skylines,It seems thay all prefer the Gtr 32 2.6 engines to modify....????...Do these have a stronger block OR Better bottom end oil feeds or whatever.....??????

I see its a common modification to the crankshaft gib keyway at the cranks front on the 32`s.....Could you guys please advise with unbiased opinions please........I see quite a lot have been stroked to 2.7 ltr......How do the engines fair with this modification....And,Whats a safe BHP with these 26 engines if done correctly please......?????

Thanks Guys.....Kev.

Some R33 GTR blocks go porous..... I had to replace mine and changed to a 32GTR block to ensure it didnt happen again.

STD internals are good for 600 with uprated pistons as long as they have had a recent rebuild or very low mileage.

R32 blocks were better/stronger apparently, but the design of the crank where it drives the oil pump is FAR better on the R33/34 crank, so much so that I wouldnt ever use a 32 crank unless it was modified, and even then I'd much prefer to use a 33 crank :)

Thanks very much for you replies Guys.....I appreciate them.....
I did notice that the rebuilt Rb26 engine`s do have the keyway modified....

Does anyone know the reason the No`s 5 & 6 bearings go on the skylines please.....??????.(Someone suggested it was debris that collected at the rear of the crank).Any ideas please guys...?????..Kev.

TBH its like saying how long is a piece of string ? If you cant afford to rebuild it if it broke, then dont risk it at such high power.

I have seen std engines going well after 100k but you never know if they have already been rebuilt before coming to the uk.

Its not really a problem as there are plenty of good GTR's on here with recently rebuilt engines running 400-600 hp for sale (at a damn cheap price really) and these should be good for a lot of miles yet...Just make sure it was built by a well respected tuner that knows what they are doing !

Personally I wouldnt by a GTR with 80-90k on the clock without already having a rebuild as you know it will eventually need to be done.

It's the same with evo's subarus etc though - not just skylines.... they are usually up for rebuilds at the 80,000 mark if not sooner.

That is the price for having so much power :chuckle:

Thanks for the reply`s guys......
I have chance of a GTR 32....2.7 big single turbo 600bhp car....Thats been re-built by one of the top tuners in Japan...And has full service history since...BUT....The vehicle has covered 25k miles since the re-build...And,Was built as a drag speck car.....My first thought was to hell with that...It`ll have had its bollocks screwed out....But,What i was wondering was...How well it will hold up to abuse for.....I must admit the car looks very clean as does the engine & Bay.....But,As i said ...I`m a little unsure as to how well the thing will stay together for....????I was thinking of getting the car checked over by HKS....
Do you think the milage is excessive for this car and would you take a chance on it please......Thanks Guys.....Kev.

25,000 miles since built and used as a drag car ?? mmmm probably will be worn depending on how much drag use it actually saw..

I would pass on it or include the cost of an engine refresh in my purchase price and have it done as soon as it got here. Cos it probably will need one soon.....

Thanks again PLKETTLE.....The agent declined to have the car checked over by HKS.....So,This in itself tells me there is perhaps a problem with this vehicle......And,My thoughts were As you kindly advised....A possability of being totally thrashed to pieces......

Thanks once again.....Kev.:banned:

It's always a bit of a gamble, unless the work is done locally just for you. The car I imported from Japan had covered 16,000kms afer being built. Though I was assured it was a daily driver, how do you really know??? It had a t88-34d turbo and a claimed 800hp on high boost. Upon receiving the car, I drained the fuel line running to the HKS additional injector controller. The controller is set to spray additional fuel at 1.7bar, and above 7200rpm. All the fuel in the line had gone "bad" because it wasn't used for a long, long time...:)
If you want to buy a car from Japan, look for one that has still has a valid Shaken inspection. If it has just recently expired, or will expire soon, there is a good chance it was used as a daily driver, and not just a drag/track car...
