At the recent GTROC Dinner we decided to recognise Club members who, over the last year had helped make the club and the year a great success. As with all awards this is only the tip of the iceberg and there is a large list of people who did not receive an award but still deserve considerable thanks for all their efforts and hard work. To those that did not receive an award the Club and the GTROC Board would like to send our heartfelt thanks for another excellent year.

The winners 2007 are as follows:

Track Day Champion of the Year: Mark Gillam here's Claire receiving it on his behalf

Forum Contributor of the Year: Jim27 here's Jason receiving it on his behalf..... for not banning him

Socialite of the Year: Claire Williams

Magazine Contributor of the Year: Dave Wilkins here's Dave receiving his award at the AGM

Best Off 2007: Iain Matthews
Hodgie accepted Moleman's award mainly due to his abilities with a car. Anyone who can do multiple 720' and still not crash deserves some recognition. But Moleman deserves this trophy for 2006 - one we hope not to have to repeat too often

Mark Apsey Trophy: Sue and Paul Creed
if anyone has any pics of this please can you post them up?
Paul and Sue have been instrumental in the GTROC calendar and started the project from nothing thre years ago. Today it is probably one of the most potent symbols of the success of the club and is sold around the world. Aside from designing the layout they collate, select and edit all the photos before finally sending it to the printers. Even after this is done they still work to get deliveries out and to manage the income it generates. For this year they have excelled themselves with a new format and with sponsorship for each page, helping us bring down the cost of the calendar. Well done to Paul and Sue.

Congratulations to everyone and if you wasn't there you missed a fantastic dinner!

Well done to all the award winners but also to me buddy pal(s) Paul & Sue.

To add to their sucesses they were also one of the first members to make me feel very welcome & 'actually' belong when I started attending/doing 'more' events representing the GTROC.

Well done guys as you both deserve it.

By the way ... Paul ...

Where did you park the Spitfire old boy :chuckle: :bowdown1: I bet that wasn't in winter storage though was it :chuckle:

I'm also trying to decide if the 'Count' there is looking at the trophy or the coronach arteries in your wrist(s) ;)

 lol Thank You everybody. This is the first thing that I have been awarded since my cycling proficiency test. Not entirely unexpected as it was the most spectacular crash of the year by a long way. I hope that Hodgie gave a suitably rousing acceptance speech in my absence. At the risk of sounding ungrateful, I hope to never win this particular accolade again. :D

Unfortunately Iain, Hodgie was too emotional to comment on the occasion, but proudly accepted on your behalf....:chuckle: :runaway:

Kris, we were proud to accept the trophy, even more for the fact that i was continuing the legacy that has so far been held high by my good friend Scott, who as always continues to do a fine job representing the club. I'll happily accept that legacy for a year although i doubt i could fill the boots of my predecessor. ....and yes, the trophy has now gone into winter storage i'm afraid.

As John said, there are a lot of people that work hard behind the scenes. Some of those have been recognised at this event, but other still plod on unrecognised. A big shout and show of hands should go to many, but here are a few.... John Fuggles for continuous unrivelled hard work organising the Club events, Scott for his excellent deals in mechandice and membership work, Dave G (ATCO) for getting such a good club mag together everytime, Ian (IST) for doing such a good job of the Club funds, Cem for having the patience to let this forum continue, forever improving ( a thankless task the majority of the time), JasonO for his behind the scenes work, and library skills, and all of the mods that make this site a pleasure to be part of.
These are just some of the people that make this forum work and keep working. All voluntarily and ever enduring. :bowdown1:

It was a massive honour to be awarded the Mark Apsey trophy, and yes I did get all emotional lol! How embarrassing ha ha ha! But my fave 'award' had to be the chocolate champagne bottle saying 'Thanks Sue' for finding the hotel. It was all rather unexpected tbh.
But lovely!

Hope to see more people next year coming to the dinner and getting awards!

Congratulations to all you hard working people

Except Moley obviously, as he won't be able to fit in his crash helmet if he receives any more praise or encouragment .....:chuckle::chuckle:
