Hi all,

As I'm currently in the process of machining my Bronze guides and porting the head, I wanted to ask a question:-

If I decide to go for higher lift aftermarket Cams at a later date, what mods are required to the Head/Guides for clearence. I'm thinking i may as well do the mods now, while it's all in bits.

Oh, it's an RB 26 by the way....

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Regards

You will need a little more cam lobe clearance, possibly, so grind away some material there.

Grind the lump in the exhaust port away. Smooth the ports out where you can feel the casting lines, sharpen the knife edge in the inllet side. You could soften the squish area edge too.

Don't touch the quench :) Or at least I would not, well maybe just the exhaust side :D

Not go too deep on the exhaust bump, or you could trash your head, listen for the pitch whne yout removing the material.

I can send you more detailed pics of mine if you want.

This is the alum material I had removed in a mill, to allow for aprox a 10.5 mm lift...
