I've just been diagnosed with a serious case of GTR-itus.

A very friendly member here just introduced me to the GTR and took me out for a ride. I've driven some high performance cars over the years but this was something else.....just awesome!

I've come away knowing I don't want one, I need one!

Hahahaha, sorry Marcus, didn't mean to do that to you.

Glad you enjoyed it. Even 8 months later I still think the car is absolute bonkers and blows me away every time I go for a spirited drive.

Welcome to the forum. Buying a GT-R will be the best move you make.

I didn't drive or even have a ride in mine before buying it......and will never forget the drive home when I gave it the first squeeze of throttle ;) 2.5 years later it still makes me smile every time I drive it.

No mate, still unsure whether to do it or not. If I do I would go straight to Stage 2 anyway.
Yea fair enough.. I think its better to go straight to stage 2..

Im gonna do the same at my next service..

No, you still keep the warranty :)

Infact im pretty suprised Anis still has the car stock.. I personally could not deal with the car in its stock state, didnt like the sound, intrusive traction control and those slow clunky gear shifts.. Maybe it was just my car, but I was not happy with the purchase all, after stage 1 i was blown away :D And now with the new Ecutek V4 map from Litchfields, i feel truly feel like there is nothing else like it :)

Ofcorse it all depends on what you want out of the car.. After hitting silverstone and driving the car pretty hard, i need new brake discs as mine have cracked and thinking of going stage 2 very soon at my next service :)

Marcus, you think you are sick now ? Wait till you experience the new developments for the GTR, you will become terminally ILL !! lol :p

Oh dear! Maybe the only cure will be found at Litchfields! haha!

It would be my only car and driven daily. At the moment I'm thinking of a nearly new, low mileage car....seems like a few MY13 cars around with hardly any mileage.

I've always gone through discs/pads on all my cars so the BBK might be something I'd look into too.

youre a very unwell person and should be quarantined immediately :squintdan

your disease will cause severe damage to yourself and drain your wallet in the long run unless cured and take the root cause off of your mind :D you should be aware of the complications of your illness particularly the "buy-it-now-parts-titis". VERY DANGEROUS :p

welcome to the forum where you can only be cured

Without wanting to start a warranty thread (search, there are loads on here) I think the advice Hash has given re warranty not being affected for stg1 and 2 mods is incorrect.
That said it very much depends on the nature of the claim and how the Nissan NHPC are feeling at the time! Many of us have certainly had serious warranty work done after mods, it's just not right to say it's guaranteed imo.

Yea sorry, Old bob is correct.. Let me clarify..

With warranty it really depends on the claim, how the car has been driven and the dealership you claim from (some are more understanding and used to Litchfield than others IME).. Basically if you get stage 1 or 2.. And after some time you see condensation in your headlights or some problem with the stereo for example.. Your warranty should still be completely valid as it has nothing to do with the mods..

If your gearbox dies after several launches and new TCM maps + some abuse.. I doubt you warranty will be valid lol..

However before you do any mods, you can get Litchfield to do a pre-warranty inspection on your car that gives you confidence that nothing will go wrong.. You can even get a separate warranty by Litchfield..

Either way, stage 1 and 2 are very minor upgrades and in my opinion, its actually better for the car due to the revised software and the fact that the car is in good hands :)

Ok that makes sense. Thanks for the info.

I've read a few ads for cars with "never launched" etc Is launching really putting that much stress on a car and if so why do Nissan implement it ?

Launching does put quite a bit of strain on the cars drivetrain and gearbox.. But the newer models (after 2010 i believe) are much better equipped to deal with it and prevent damage.. Newer launch control software also makes a big difference.. The new Ecutek software is great as it allows you to set how much RPM you want to launch from..

I think most broken trannys have been with earlier models, due to either launching when the cars transmission fluid is too cold or due to the infamous 'wheel hop'.. However i have not really seen much talk about people blowing their transmission or diffs due to launching in the past couple years..

Also the car throws up a warning if your clutch is getting too hot and does not let you launch.. Same goes for if the car is too cold to launch..

When i bought my car, the dealership told me that it had never been launched and that the car was not driven very hard as it was owned by an elderly gentlemen.. Then i took it down to Litchfield for stage 1, and they did a pre-warranty check only to find that the car has been launched 'several' times and has thrown a 'clutch protection fault' which basically means it has been launched consecutively causing excessive heat on the clutch :/.. Another reason to take you car to Litchfield straight away and get it checked as everything shows up in the logs..

So if you buy your car from a dealership, make sure you ask them for the log data as they maybe lying to you as they did to me..
