I currently have a stage3/4 Ecutek tune but standard TCM software.

Im thinking to get the TCM done also, but whats the advantage's of running Ecutek gearbox software???

If you have a a CBA I think it's a no brainer. DBA as far as I know is still worthwhile but not quite so noticeable with normal driving.
On either though it makes the box quicker and smoother, I believe all versions allow for multiple changes at once. I.e. You click the down paddle twice and it will change down twice where as normally it would ignore the second click of the paddle till the first change was complete.

On a CBA, low speed around town stuff is much nicer, auto gear selection is smoother and it doesn't keep wanting to jump up and down gears.

I don't think it's very expensive, £150/200 maybe? So worth doing for improve drivability.

I'm sure somebody will chirp in with the exact differences soon.

I have a my11. I also got the ear box upgraded and found it was much better, less noise and clunking, more responsive and smooth changes as well as the double down shifts etc

You won't notice much if any difference. I think they charge 300 quid for it? Your DBA will double downshift in R mode stock.

Like Celtic said, it smooths the brutality of the CBA, but DBA's are smoother anyway. I paid for it on my previous MY13, I think they called it Nismo gearbox software at the time, which sounded nice, but it made no difference to the feel.

Btw, what's a stage 3/4? Is that the stage before stage 1? :)

Well had Injectors, exhaust, tune, and upgrade Airflow meters, so not sure if that's a stage 3+??

As for the double downshifts , I cant say that bothers me, I was hoping the Ecutek would make things smoother and make normal mode a bit sportier

I believe only stage 4 and above usually have injectors, so that sounds like stage 4 to me :)

Tell that to AC speedtech,
I tell them all sorts hahahahahaha, but I'm not techy or an engineer so it's really pertinent what falls out of my mouth:) it doesn't fit In the the typical outlined "Stages" that is all, Mines a pickle of things I wanted :)

by upgraded MAF's air you running Speed density instead of MAF? (intrigued now )

On a side note the "Nismo" flash does work on the CBA cars and all the tuners add their own little bits/parameters and it has sped my box up and made it a little less "sledge hammer" like.

Have been toying with getting it done on mine, part of me loves the brutal shifting though :squintdan

Wonder if I can keep the brutal shifts and have the revised launch maps :chuckle:

Not sure how it all works to be honest, although I might get some proper intakes soon just for the noise:)

As has been said probably worth it on the CBA cars, mines a 2012 and I can honestly say I've never entertained the thought of getting the gearbox software done, it's plenty fast enough for me in manual with the gearbox in R.

As terry says maybe you notice a difference in Auto but again, I've never took issue with the box in auto or manual mode.

The TCM software wasn't finished when it went to market. Shitsan fixed it after the fact. JF04B was on mine when I got it, and compared to KJ10 LC5, the former was a complete set of pigs tits. Get it updated. :)

did the up/downshifts get faster in manual mode? does ecutek use a self developed gearbox software or is it just from a specific model year?

It's tuned to the car so I guess you can say it's self developed
I found it more responsive but you're talking milliseconds and I don't have the reflexes of a racing driver... probably placebo

Litchfields updated my gearbox software on Tuesday and Dan custom tuned/tweaked it also, the shifts up and down in manual are just staggering now, well worth the money.
