:runaway:The hours have finally counted down and I have my UMS Black Edition on my drive.
I haven't had to wait the months and years like most on this Board but, to me, the searching and waiting over the last few months has been full of anticipation, concern and now excitement.
My car has just had six months service performed, plus rear parking sensors and the all important y-pipe fitted by Middlehurst. First impressions are:
- It's more comfortable than I remember from the test drives.
- The UMS Silver colour looks great against the black painted alloys. Plus love the part red leather interior.
- Suspension not as hard as I remember and no real difference in the comfort mode.
- The gearbox in auto is so smooth. First and reverse gears are not great on inclines!
- Steering is fantastic, maybe not the feedback of a 997 but then the front end is not moving about so much!. Is feels over servo'd at low speed but good weighting when on the "metal".
- Brakes feel spongy? I suspect they haven't been used with vigour yet (only 2000 miles). I would expect them to improve soon!!
- Gadget galore, bloody dangerous using on the move! Reading the manual tonight so will no more later.
- Y-Pipe makes a big difference but I still feel it could sound a little more "interesting" on full chat.
- Best bit : Performance. Engine, power & torque really does amaze me but and a big but - the chassis is simply stunning. It's the chassis that makes the engine feel so good as it just simply consumes every single horsepower into forward progress.
With any new car I've had, I usually have a sense of eurphoria, so I won't compare to previous cars yet but it's a stunning piece of kit and surprisingly as exciting to drive at slow speeds as any other car I've owned.
