I'm looking to sell my GTR - which is a 2017 Recaro Edition in the rare Deep Pearl Blue with 32K miles. Litchfield Stage 4. All with Litchfield FSH. Great condition inside and out.

I reached out to a few main dealers, but most didn't really want to know as the car has been modified. I guess I should have known that main dealers wouldn't be interested in expensive cars which have been modified, and I should have focused on specialists.

I can see people sell them privately, but I didn't really know whether that worked well, because they're expensive and wouldn't have warranties like you would get from a dealer. I also wanted to know what sellers/buyers organised for arranging payment. That's why thought the dealer would be better, but then obviously the price offered would be lower.

So, I'm wondering on what people's experience has been and whether I should go for private or trade, the price to sell it for (I know generally by looking at Pistonheads and AutoTrader) and what to be careful about etc.

Any help/advice would be very much appreciated.

Why not advertise on this forum?
A detailed advert with some decent pictures is always helpful.
Sale on return via a specialist or car trader is also another option to consider and generally popular amongst sellers wanting nothing (other than being paid) to do with the pangs of selling a car.

50 post rule is on hold at present so an advert can be put up. A price must be stated on the advert though.

Thanks. I was thinking about doing that and the mod kindly confirmed the 50 post requirement was on hold, so I'll sort that out.

Just wondering about how people go about selling these cars privately. I'd welcome inspections for example, but I wouldn't want anybody turning up just to get a 'test drive', so how do people generally approach that side of things? Also, what about money - I'm assuming that's all done via direct wire transfer, so can be validated easily?

Overall, just looking to avoid any pitfalls.

This is why private is cheaper / you will get a lot of hassle removed via trader but your going to be paying £3k I’d imagine for the service but it stops you getting involved with £ & the hassle

I sold privately but depends on each individual

You also get a lot of tire kickers etc

security is another issue to consider etc

there is no right or wrong answer but the golden rule - the car doesn’t leave until funds clear

Have you any photos of the car? I'm not looking to buy it, just seeing how extensive the modifications are and could it be reverted back to standard even?

Personal opinion but if I was selling my GTR i would put it through a specialist as you reduce the number of potential buyers selling privately for reasons already mentioned (finance, warranties etc). If i was spending £70k+ for a motor i would rather buy from a Litchfield or AT.

Can't seem to send you a message. Do you want to drop me a message with your number and I'll send photos and specs via WhatsApp?
