This is notoriously pronounced on the majority of the subaru range, but more so because it is noticeable on that chassis
Thanks for the reply, Simon :)

What exactly do you mean by chassis? The shell or the shell with all the suspension components or something else? And why would it be more noticeable? Because of a certain rigidity?

My personal theory (so could be complete crap) on tramling is that it is caused by the same phenominen as camber thrust.

If you camber a tyre over and roll it straight forward it will create a sideways force in the direction of the camber.

For instance. If you got an oval race (which was set up with both the inside on the outside wheel cambered in the same direction - to facilitate it only doing left handers) and pushed it forward, it would crab slightly to the left.

So, it is my belief that this same thing is happening when you get tramlining. The road has effectively changed contour which creates a difference in angle between the tyre and the road (similar to camber, but the road's doing the work this time! :D) which then causes the thrust.

The way you can test this, is to drive along a motorway that has had billions of heavy goods vehicles drive along it and leave an depression in the tyre tracks. You end up with two "grooves". Drive your car so that you drift towards these grooves. When in them, the tyres will try to pull themselves out of them, rather than rattle around inside them.

Just my theory, but it works for me :)

All the best

Hi Claudius

Sorry, by chassis I mean the entire package. The developed chassis. Not sure why it would be noticeable, possibly because of it being more prone to lift-off-oversteer than many? It could be any number of reasons.

Cheers

The next 'Supra' which is likely to be badged as the 'Soarer Supra' or 'SC Supra' will indeed have a top model with Active.
OMG! :D I'm sure the Supra forum people will love that, especially since they met you on their site! :D :D LOL

Although a rather different novel version, my friend Nick [who posts/lurks on here since also getting banned from the MKIV site] works for the development arm of Toyota.
Are you serious the guy works for Toyota and was banned from the Toyota forum? :D LOL

The MKIV guys, awww bless.

Yes they banned possibly the best source of info on the Supra they were ever likely to get.

The irony always makes me laugh.

I'll sort it. [photos]

Simon, so you discount my work then on the tyre actually growing into tramlining as a consequence of the use of near zero degree banding within the carcass.

Mycroft - I haven't heard of this "work" of yours, so I am unable to discount it. However, my tendancy, due to the amount of drivle you spout in almost every post you make is to assume that I will.

All

I have a feeling this thread has run it's useful course now. If you have any more questions, etc or want me to comment, please pm me, otherwise, thank you for the discussion, speak soon.

All the best

Ahh, but he can only tolerate social intercourse via the distance and safety of the net. And then it is only to bolster his weak ego, with cold, supercillious and patronising statements rather than real interactions based on mutual respect and infused with emotional warmth.

affected individuals are characterized by social isolation and eccentric behavior in childhood. There are impairments in two-sided social interaction and non-verbal communication. Though grammatical, their speech is peculiar due to abnormalities of inflection and a repetitive pattern. Clumsiness is prominent both in their articulation and gross motor behavior. They usually have a circumscribed area of interest which usually leaves no space for more age appropriate, common interests.
LOL :D

I just looked at a website about it, so now I'm an expert ;)

Yes, I think a few asses do need purging around here.

Cems hand must be hovering over the 'eject' button for a few of you.

What happened?

Did you lot of winos run out of meths or did the Council shut the Park early?

If you only come here as either an 'Idiot Chorus' or as a bunch of drunken louts, then really we are all better off without you.

TRY, to stop here.

Mycroft, throughout this you have been the one to be quick to wade in with the insults towards most of the people contributing to this thread and then you come accross all high and mighty? Yes please do try to stop now. Perhaps if you didn't have to make every thread a Mycroft versus the world situation then people might take you more seriously.

I have never even met Cem, but I credit him with more sense.
