I have their Y pipe fitted and after hearing the full system it sounded no different. It seemed very hot round the tips compared to the standard one and unless you were going to go for a Cobb and a full remap (at which point I would go the GTC route) I would spend the money on something else.

Interesting - I actually have the GTC Y-Pipe (which I am very pleased with) plus running Cobb stage 2 but can not quite justify (at this stage) the cost of GTC Ti system hence exploring other options.

Do GTC not do a stainless version?

Hi Guys,

yup to be honest kp you will find most exhausts for the 35 do not make an amazing difference in sound. The Y-pipe makes the difference, and more so changing the turbo outlet decatt.

Loads people have asked us to do steel version. we did make a 3.5 90mm one off and did testing. Finally deciding that we wouldn't go that route due to too many other brands also selling steel, and also we wanted to supply a product which gave the user decent weight saving, unique sound and a material worthy of the 35.

Pipper cams also have a steel version, which frankly looks exact same as the one above. notice they don't mention weight and pipe size.

Honestly, if i was in market for an exhaust and only wanted to buy one. from a non trader view it would have to give at least 8kg weight save and be 80mm or 90mm diameter. Other wise save your money and keep with the 17.45kg stock with restrictive bends.

In my eyes the GT-R is kinda a big deal, a special car. An exhaust and map is all you need for a very low 11 even poss high 10 run. why not go for something unique like Sunline RS, Top Secret, Zele, Amuse, shadow sports, MCR, ARC, Garage Active, HKS Kansai, Blitz Nur Ti !!! only one i don't recommend in a million years is the Mine$ ti catback, little weight saving and little sound improvment.

I hear what your saying regards price of Ti. can't be helped, its an expensive material which can only be processed by specialists, and i won't drop down a grade quality.

That said i'm going to run a GB next week, with some good savings and just in time before the end of year VAT increase :(

Ben, I would also like to know, how about an exhaust with high performance Cat's?
I would like to keep the car road legal and I assume that the car will never be able to pass an MOT without Cat's, and refitting the original exhaust every year isn't an easy option for most of us.

Surely your HPC will refit OEM pipe for MOT?

Have the Miltek Y pipe installed because I first wanterd to spend money on other goodies. Will later change probably to GTC ti catback. Do not like the titanium blue tips but apparantly oem tips fit on the GTC catback pipe.

well its like this regards race cats. They cost near twice as much to make than decatt turbo outlets (£550). Takes 4 hours to fit and the power gains are not as effecive as decatt turbo outlets. so you have to weigh up if its worth it...

so my honest advise is either go full decatt (like i and few others have done) or just stick to oem.

Some people think full decatt is too loud. really isn't for me. turns me right on. but then so goes progressive house music. different strokes for different fokes :p

Hmmm great. And it fits to the Miltek pipe. Dunno yet if I will sell the Miltek midpipe and have the ti midpipe too. Let's see. Some time to decide. Got to have that GTC system. Delivery time will remain 8ish weeks right? Will take the silent version I'm sure. Or maybe not. Ah well, some time to decide. Hope Lars will start to install his goodies soon so I can hear the GTC pipe live.

Ben, thanks for the opinion on the cats. I was wondering if it was possible to do away with the front downpipe Cat's and use a large single central unit. I might have got this wrong, but I thought this was what the Catalyst version of the HKS exhaust used.
