my car runs fine, but I'm getting fuel odours from under the bonnet, can get a bit overwhelming in stop and go traffic. No visible leaks in any of the fuel lines, could it be the injectors not seated squarely in either the head or the fuel rail? What if I were to take a hammer and tap along the fuel rail, make sure everything is driven in snugly? Have I been breathing in too much hi-test? :p

And yes, my gas mileage sucks (12.5mpg, that's US gallons btw)

Injector probably cracked. I have had to replace a few, no big deal, about a 1 hour job.

Don't hit it with a hammer! :)

It's the #3 injector, the smell is definitely coming outta that one. Could it be a bad O-ring as well?

my girl thought I was totally nuts, sniffing around the engine bay until I had it pinpointed :p

I was getting something similar (I said it was a fuel smell, the previous owner insisted it was burning oil) and fitted a blow-by hose to the oil catch can in order to pass it under the car. Definitely improved the situation in my case.
