I purchased my 09 GTR in Decemer 2013 from litchfield as a Stage 2 with Alcon Discs. I had come from a Focus ST MR290 Mountune car so the jump was quite significant. The best thing for me was how well the car put the power down being my first 4x4. The Focus would wheelspin in 1st and 2nd gear on anything other than a dry smooth road.

Last weekend I went to Kaizer and i had the car modified to Litchfield Stage 4 and downpipes fitted along with the latest version 4 maps (also got pop and bang on 95).

The sound of the Downpipes is Incredible the exhaust has come alive and sounds perfect:D

On full acceleration the Stage 4 car actually seems slower than the original stage 2 which suprised me. I think Stage 2 used to have a more substantial kick (that petered off) so it felt faster but stage 4 is more consistant accross the rev range...I kind of miss that kick :bawling:

The latest gearbox software is great the shift points on the move seem much better judged. My only complaint is when pulling out of junctions or away from standstill the gearbox seems to get caught between neutral and 1st....the revs raise and then it slams into 1st with a shunt making pulling away smoothly difficult. Also when approaching a roundabout in auto mode on the old software the car would normally hold 3rd gear and just allow me to drive accross at low revs the new software seems to find itself between gears again slaming home when more throttle is applied.

The transition between on and off throttle at low level is also very snappy. It actually kangaroo's at low rev 1st gear throttle so much so my wife as passanger thought we had a flat tyre in her first ride.

A couple of times when reversing off my drive i have gone from reverse to 1st and the gearbox wont engage. The 1st gear logo flashes on the dash which leaves me in the middle of the road before slamming home.

Overall im happy with the sound and quality of the products just its made the car less smooth/progressive for daily use and kind of miss the stage 2:confused:

Anyone thinking of doing the downpipes and intakes id recommend it. The difference in Sound is amazing.

Im going to get my Gearbox Solenoid cleaned next service incase that will help but the above didnt happen on the stage 2 before the updates.

I don't know how long until your next service, but it might be worth booking the car in with Sly to have the solenoids checked now rather than let the car keep ramming a gear home.

I had a Stage 4 MY10 and when I got the MY11 only went to stage 2.
Being closer to the factory torque/power it just felt more "sorted". If you know what I mean, like you didn't have to be so careful with the throttle exiting corners.

No doubt the stage 4 was faster though. Quite alarming on the public highway if you pinned the throttle.

Next Service is in May. It had a Major Service before i picked it up from licthfield in December which i think included the gearbox oil.

Its strange that it wasnt doing the slam home thing when it was stage 2?

Yes, odd.
But until you have the car in and the solenoids checked it's impossible to put it down to a software or hardware issue.

Could just be a coincidence.
Personally I'd pop in and get it checked for peace of mind.
Driving it like that would annoy me.

I'd also ask Iain about it on the mapping side, he'll probably ask you to go out and log it. Do you have a cable?

Logs and solenoid clean will get you to the bottom of it.

I'm on S4 with DP's and I'm not having anything that you've describe with regards to the gearbox. But I do have the noise :D

I dont have the Cable unfortunately I had the work done at Kaizer and they did the logging.

Its great to know you have the same spec as me and yours doesnt have this....so its not part of the stage 4 software :)

Just need to get the bottom of it now

No its nothing like that symptoms. Im hoping its just a clutch engagment setting on mine.

Ive got the Litchfield Warranty and bought the car from them Originally so hopefully if there is a problem they can sort it.
Okay, glad to hear it :)

He just claims that:

I came up to a four way stop and started to go but the throttle was dead so I continued to give it throttle until I reached 100% as you can see on the gauge in the center of the dash (top left). The GTR shifts into 1st and revs up to 1500 RPM @ 1:37 and then drops down to around 850 RPM before it starts to take off. This isn't the worst case, I've had it happen where there was a 3 second delay from a stop.

When pulling away as you step off the brake to go onto throttle mine seems like it tries to stall (revs drop to 800rpm) for a split second then it pulls away with my throttle input. Its my first Auto so wasnt really sure what to expect.

Its had a minor Rattle from the Bellhousing since i bought it but Sly said its normal.

off topic but can you get your company to insure modified R35s? When I called I was told their GT-R coverage is limited to £20,000 so not suitable for the 35.

Sorry mate we specialise in the R32 and R33 highly modified ones. The R35 is to high value for us at the moment.

In the Sticky Post in the our section it does explain this.

The R35 is great car and we will be hoping to do something on them in the future.

In Relation to the Topic Iain has kindly offered to send me a logging cable to do some datalogging.

Then Iain will check the mapping and send me a new file.

You can't say fairer than that.

My map is pretty much spot on. I went out and did some data logging yesterday myself, just to ensure all is good. It really still makes me grin when I bury it :D

I had a minor stop at Standard, then pretty much went to Stage 4 minus backbox - then went the rest of it with downpipes, FMIC and 102mm exhaust.
