I've found a few times now, when doing some slightly spirited driving, that under heavy-ish braking the car feels like it's unstable, probably best described as "squirming" left and right?
I had the car in R-N-R, it was a dry day, and the car was pretty much straightened up at the time. I know she's a bit of a chubster but is this pretty normal for the My17? :confused:

Does it drive straight? Could be something simple as an alignment needing done. But as a 17 car i'd be popping that straight back to the dealer

It does drive straight, and although it does have the oem run flats on it, they're nowhere near as bad for tramlining as they were on my previous my15?

Id say its the tyres tramliming. They Dunlops right? I replaced my Dunlops for MPSS based on the offset sizes front and rear (275 front and 305 rear) and the car was SO much better to drive - no tramlining.

The car will feel slightly squirmish under heavy braking, you are loading the front of the car up with 2 tonne of weight thus making the backend light! Pop the suspension in R and see if that helps you at all!

I'll give it a go later in the 3R's and see if it helps...I'm sure by stopping as much front end dive it will; just wanted some feedback to see if other My17 owners experienced the same.

Yes both myself and my brother have experienced this does feel a bit unnerving at first.

I would say with the current setup its normal, OEM tyres, braking with 2 tonne of weight, its a fair bit to stop.

Yep road surface will be a big factor, but they do squirm under very hard braking, you have to be maxing the brakes to do that though.

You'll have to let me know whether they're worth it or not...I do "spirited" road driving and will probably do the odd rare track day - they still squirm a little in 3R's mode but the front doesn't dive as much which definitely helps!

Not sure if you have read the thread on the DSC Sport suspension controller

You will read that the controller has anti-dive settings under braking, in addition to the comfort and handling improvements.

Can't say if this is the effect you are trying to counteract, but it is worth considering.

The DSC Sport controller settings are already pre-programmed into the controller when you receive it, but you can see in the view below how the software settings are adjusted to set the level of anti dive response for a given braking effort.

How are those brakes on the road vs the OEM set-up?

I have a set of Radicals with 410mm discs on order with AC Speedtech with a slightly more aggressive pad than the stock Ferodo.




Taking mine on track next week but have felt the same. Have just fitted a BBK so will see how they feel also, think I will be looking for new wheel, tyres and suspension next
