...Any suggestions

Got about a 4k budget (flexible), not scared of auctions and want something that will -

- do at least 30mpg and not drop to stupid MPG when hammered, (I had a Sharan TDI pool car once, should do 45mpg, I used to get 17mpg!);
- cruise all day in quiet comfort at 100mph;
- turn heads (though not as much as the skyline);
have air con;
- Cost sensible amounts to insure (Currently my second car is a Rover 620Ti, group 16 insurance + group 20 insurance = too much);
- be reliable.

I can't think of anything that fits the bill yet, any suggestions? It needs to be good to keep the miles off the GTR - I've done either 2k or 3k in the past 4 weeks, either way too much for a car that does 15mpg :rolleyes:

I would have to say a Silvia S15!

EDIT: Sorry The Silvia S15 isn't in the 4K budget, I didn't realise it had to be under 4K:eek:
I would say, definitely an S14

Car

I have a gts 4 door 2.0 lite non turbo for sale at a resonable cost, It still gets the looks and returns a good MPG. Insurance not as bad as a GTR!!!.

puma is quite tempting, had a primera before - tidy handling, nice car, not gonna turn heads though :)

Quite tempted by an S14 200SX, but its not going to be that cheap to run...

I've had a couple of Pugs before and enjoyed them... 306's are great too, but a bit common.

A few options:

Fiat Coupe - not sure about insurance but fits the rest of the reqs
Mazda MX6 - should meet all the reqs
Vauxhall Calibre - a bit dated, but ok
VW Corrado - meets all reqs, and very nice IMHO.

4k tp spend?
mmmmmm ur one that wants all look but no go typ eh?

go get urself a bike
hehe

put a loud can at the back and u get looks eveywhere u go ( if u ride with nothing on u get even more looks :D )

get a Civic.......if u really want it for day to day drive u might as well forget the looks and go for money saving....

or if u dont drive very far from home ( ie work..Tesco ) then get a Smart car

sometimes u juz need to forget one thing and get on with it

''if u dont lose something u never gain anything''

Nice Car...

...But I suppose I should avoid a car which is group 17/18 insurance, particularly as I'll no doubt get on and start modifying it. I'll start with good intentions and just get an exhaust and air filter, but then I'll need bigger wheels and brembos etc its a slippery slope and I'll end with another car that does 20mpg and scare the sh!t out of me in the wet :eek:

So far cars on the shortlist -
Ford Puma (sensible)
Ford Focus (bet I'd end up supercharging it!)
Nissan 200 SX
Pug 306 (a friend runs a 'serious' peugeot tuning outfit so this could be a dangerous choice!)

Discounted
Corrado (great handling, not got Air Con on most, but looks and insurance don't do it!)
Integra (To raw)
106 Raylle (No A/C, crap at 100+mph)
Mazda MX6 (ford probe in drag)
Primera (Bland + had one before!)
Clio Willy (group 18 insurance - not a great cruiser)
MK2/3 Golf (Too Old/Fat)
Skyline (got one already - still four figure insurance for a Non Turbo)
E30 325 Sport (old...)
Fiat Barachetta (LHD, Fiat)
Fiat Coupe (group 19 insurance, Fiat, costly services)

Maybe's
Honda Civic Coupe (Engine swap and mugen bits anyone ;))
Honda Prelude (Dear insurance?)
Celica ST185 GT4 (old, reliability?)
Ford Mondeo V6 (bland, but otherwise fits)

Afraid my work at 'tescos' :D is a bit too far to drive in a smart... And yes in part it is the looks I want, I have a car with real go outside :)

How about

A Xedos 6?

All the goodies and will last forever.

I've been thinking the same thing. I need another motor coz I can't keep using my 34 everday car; especially as its booked in for some tuning 'stuff' next week.

How about a pug gti6?
