Happy New Year to everyone first of all!!

Received my genuine GTR34 key couple of days ago and I was wondering whether taking the car and the key to Nissan dealership is the only way I can "register" the key onto the factory ecu/immobiliser.

Thanks
Tony

And that's assuming they've still got the old consult! Is there a colour on they key near the chip? There may be a way of swapping the chip but I've never attempted it
Yes the transponder color is red!

Timpson's a UK wide key cutters & shoe repair shop cut me a key with the immobiliser code for £35. It's a cheap looking key but it works spot on. All the chap in the shop had to do was push my key into a reader for a second then place the newly cut key in and bobs your uncle!

My local Nissan dealership could only get the R34 key without the transponder and that had a six to eight week wait!

Asked at local dealership it will cost around 40 euros for the cutting and programming of the key. I brought mine fm RHD Japan and it includes the transponder for 62 euros which is quite cheap I think! Got here after 2 weeks.

One of the tuning shops should be able to do it. Abbey did mine. Timpsons cannot program your key as the key is not programmable. The cars ECU has to be set to accept the code (read only) on the key

So are you saying that the key I brought from Timpson's does not start my car or that they never cloned the new key from my original?

I just got mine done a few weeks back from the Nissan dealership... they had never done one before on a skyline, they used the obd1 connector on the consult and he put the new key in turned it then put the old key in. New key back in again and it started up right away with the new key. (Master key with the red transponder)

He didnt charge anything either :D

Just had my new key cut and the transponder code from my old key read and put onto my new key at Timpson's. Chap done it for free but I give him a few quid for his trouble. Oh and yes it does start the car!
