I've now been driving my Gtr for a few weeks after i had the clutch basket replaced. Im hearing there are some characteristics that you won't get on other cars.

It's 2011 recaro edition, 75k, running the knightracer 650r so pushing 660bhp with my17 nismo gearbox map. Bought as is.

Firstly the idle on park is not steady, start up it's at 1.2k rpm, once warmed up it goes up and down between 800 - 1k?

The second thing is when it changes gear (up or down) i can hear like a disc change noise?

Thridly, and i hear this is normal from what i've read on the forum so far, is the traction behaviour of this car. You put your foot down to accelorate and around the 5k rpm traction light flickers and restricts power until you put your foot down again?

The car moves through gears absolutely fine and really pulls like a train and just keeps going without any problems.

You'll hear it clunk around all over the place, even when driving at a steady slow speed. The gearbox always has the next gear ready, so it guesses what that might be. But then it might change it's mind, and get a different gear ready instead, so you will hear it clunk. Say you go from 1st, to 2nd, to 3rd to 4th. It thinks you'll be needing 5th next. But say you then don't change or get to a steady speed. It then might decide you may well want to slow down again, so it will get 3rd ready instead. So you'll hear a clunk as it's swaps 5th for 3rd, whilst you are still in 4th.

I think I have that right !

Traction control can take over quite quickly. Mine will flash the traction light even when under not full acceleration. Lifting off and back on again seems to make it stop flashing the light.

Yep, agree with snuffy.

The idle should be steady when the car is warmed up. Its less than 1000 but not sure it's as low as 800, I'll have to report back on that.

Traction light can flicker - you'll feel the car holding back - should be only occasional and for a very brief moment (unless the Nismo MY17 map is more aggressive, I don't have my gearbox mapped).

I tend to drive with traction control off all the time as the light flickering all the time and restricting the power irritates me.

Well thats a relief, knowing its a normal traits from the car. I was a bit concerened after i got the clutch basket replaced i could still hear it.

I used that lift off and on again method which seemed to do the trick. I will try @andyevo Method next and see how that goes. Saying that do you get any momnets of the car wanting to twitch out, since its fully off?

Are you using 99 octane fuel? And what size tyres are you running. Traction control will kick in if the tyres are incorrect rolling radius.

If your car has an ecutek racerom map then you can turn traction control to off (note it will still have traction control) but it will allow more slip so that the TC does not intervene at the slightest issue. First check with a specialist who can check even remotely what you have (if you have ecutek that is). Traction issues will then go away.

Get the car serviced to ensure all things in tip top shape, get map looked at as above and that should make the idle better.

I do have a ecutek map as mentioned in my orginal post. I tried @andyevo Method of leaving the traction off and that does the trick, even putting it on R mode stops the traction from intervening too often. I'd rather use that i suppose in case i do have any adverse weather conditions i have to deal with while going a little too fast 🤭

I had it serviced when i got the clutch basket replaced by Kaizer. I noticed the idle only happens after i do the flames or pops, after i restart the engine later, its fine.

I think the pops and bangs map mess about with the engine timing to produce the effect so maybe that's why the idle is out (fluctuating) when in that mode?

I have noticed that sometimes the revs fluctuate between indicated 800-1000 RPM when on idle and warm. This fluctuation goes away by switching the AC off.
