Hi,

New member.

Picked up my GTR last week. 09 plate.

(cant post pictures as only a newbie with <15 posts)

It has a Milltek ypipe on and also the rear light mod as all 4 rights light on sidelights (I'm correct in assuming this is a mod?)

I am booked in to Litchfield for a full service and stage 4 conversion.

Last night I tried out launch control for the first time and I wanted to test something, I saw on videos user adjustable rpm in lanch control with the cruise control toggle, so I tried that and my rpm did go up and down from the 4k mark with the switch, so what does this mean?

ECU remap?
2012 gearbox software?
Nothing? all 09 plates do this?

I'm just curious if its been mapped to stage 1 at least, as the previous owner had obviously put the ypipe on.

So hoping someone can tell me a way to see if it has? Or should I just book in to a rolling road somewhere to see

While I'm here:

With my stage 4 and service at Litchfield, I'm being told I need to spend nearly £500 having the gearbox opened up and solenoid caps replaced, is this money well spent? Or give it a miss for now as I dont seem to be having any box issues? car is nearly on 40k

Thanks!

You will have the different gearbox software if you can adjust the LC Rpm. One way to tell if the ECU is remapped would be to check how much boost it is running. 0.8 bar max for a standard 09. Also with the boost gauge showing on the mfd you can adjust the boost pressure up and down with the cruise control though i think this was only possible with the later versions.

+1 sounds very much like ecutek. Litchfields will easily confirm it.

As for the gearbox stuff its really up to you. Not essential but many people have had solenoid problems, particularly on earlier cars. Opening the box and cleaning the solenoids, fitting stronger Dodson magnets along with a couple of other bits will help to prevent issues and give peace of mind IMO. You can save a bit of money by getting it done at a scheduled tranny oil change service (18,36,52 month etc) so you're not paying to replace the expensive tranny fluid unneccessarily. Which service are you due?

I tried this too, after seeing that's how you change Cobb maps on the fly? so tried that but don't think I have that installed as I couldnt press cancel and see the boost level drop to zero
But yes using the cruise switch the boost can be adjusted.

2012 gearbox software? Like I was about to pay Litchfield £300 to do?
Can we be sure about that? Was there any updates between 2009 and 2012? Like could I have a 2010 gearbox software so its still worth paying for the update?

They only clean solenoids, not replace anything? My local specialists could perform this ok then? I'm not due tranny fluid but having it done yeah :)

Spoke to Litchfield;

My car has been in there with them before!

In Nov 2012 9k miles ago for:
Stage 1 remap with Miltek non res y-pipe
2012 gearbox software
36month service

Awesome stuff. and spoke more about the gearbox solenoid clips, the put a cover over the solenoid, these parts + gaskets and a couple bolts they will supply for £150 if I want my local garage to fit and do the oil change.

They also told me how to change map on my car, push and hold Cancel and the engine light flashes? and can turn the boost up, hoping its not running at its best atm as it doesnt feel as fast as my 450bhp 1 series atm. Stage 4 should be good!

Good stuff.
