Afternoon all.

Firstly sorry for all the questions but I'm coming into this pretty blind.

I'll shortly be in a position to purchase a 2010 - 2011 GTR with a maximum budget of £45k I have a history of Impreza's and M Cars so have a rough idea of what I'm letting myself in for.

I've seen plenty of mention of Bell Housings and Cir-clips being replaced. Is this a necessity and if so how much should I budget to have it done ?

Stage 1, 2, 4.25 etc. What would a realistic power figure be for each be? I've seen some sale adds with stage 1 being quoted as 580Bhp is that the case?

Any reputable tuners or service specialists in Essex or is the trip to Litchfields worth it?

What else to check, obvious things such as history, HPI, brakes and tyres are all easy but anything else I should be looking for?

Mine was stage 4.25 which made 654bhp

Kaizer Motors is down in Rochester, Kent... very good rep.

45k should get you a nice 2010 car

I never did circlips on mine, but the bellhousing was done with a Litchfield one (£700 fitted I think).

Mine was stage 4.25 which made 654bhp

Hi,

I not too long ago bought my first GTR, I searched for a while and there are loads out there especially at your budget.

I specifically wanted a stage 4.25 in white preferably, but my budget was a bit less than yours (£38k).

What I ended up with was an 09 stage 4.25 black edition in gun metal grey. It has a few more miles on it than most (55k) but it had just had about £6500 spent on the gearbox and bell housing done, it has also got the 2015 SatNav and sound system upgraded to Audison. So for me it was more important to have some gearbox peace of mind than 10,000 less miles.

Its making 680BHP

I love the car and the colour probably more than the white. Unlike my usual have it for a few months and wonder whats next, I really cant see me ever selling it now, its impossible to replace for similar money.

Is the gearbox reason for concern? I don't really fancy lumbering myself with a £6k bill if I get the wrong car:eek:

As far as I could tell from doing my research before I bought one, that was the only real concern with the CBA cars, especially launched ones, I think though that with the DBA (2011) cars it wasn't as big an issue.

There's tons of people on here that know this stuff way more than I do.

CBA 2009 box is identical to 2011 DBA, mechanically. The TCU has an extra half megabyte of flash on the DBA though.

From Ian litchfields lips, there is no problem with the gearbox, per say. When the CBA originally came out in the USA MY08, it did have an aggressive launch control. 4500rpm launches on a drag strip with sticky hot drag tyres was causing axle tramp and pinging off the circlips. Dodson quickly made some beefy Allen bolt clamp circling replacements. Sorted for drag racing.

Nissan then, having tried to deny the existence of launch control, modified the firmware and lowered the launch rpm to 2200. No more problem again.

You can spend the money for peace of mind if you want, but I'm pretty confident you won't be driving it hard enough to kill it. It's pretty much bomb proof.

Mine is coming up for 42k miles. Gearbox fine. The engine? Don't talk to me about the engine. And don't take it anywhere near a Nissan HPC. They drown puppies in their spare time :chuckle:
