Ok so I was in benfield speaking to the service manager about my rear view mirror not working when I turn it on (not dimming). I asked him what the crack was with pre and post track day inspection. He decided to tell me some absolute rubbish that it was £460 before then £460 after!!!! I was gob smacked that he would even suggest such a price. I tried to get him to explain the process and he really struggled but claimed he needed the car for 3 hours before and 3 hours after. That's me lost all trust with Newcastle Nissan and I can safely say they won't be getting any of my business including service! On a better note Jurgen installed my gtc Titan y pipe! Wow the sound is sweet!

Wtf...well his lack of knowledge, or blatant attempt to rip you off has just lost them your future business! Nissan send this service manager on a training course.

Yep he must think people are clueless! Jurgen inspected mine and it had zero play, though she has only done 10k!

we heard your y-pipe it certainly sounded nice btw..

this is also the first ultimate silver we have seen real close and its a very nice colour.

if you want pre track inspection before and after we can do it here.

basically get it on ramps check full car over make sure nothing is loose all fluids are good and do the same afterwards mate.

£100 seems fair couple of hours labour checking it over.

i am working on a service sheet and pricing (which i will post later for all local owners to use).

That is frightening to think these numpties are trying to rip customers off, surely there is a standard cost for these inspections?

I can feel a slight improvement, it was always the sound I was after though! Also noticed the boost seems to come up much quicker.

Hi mate,

These prices do seem obscene, an error perhaps?

I'm in the north-east and have been to Benfield 3 times now since owning the car. I have to say that every time I have been in the service has been outstanding, on one visit the GT-R specialist spending a couple of hours going over my service and diagnostics, quick tour of the workshop and another GT-R they were working on behalf of another HPC, shook hands with and chatted to GT-R technician and had a nose around a blue 2011 and freshly delivered black 2012. Even got a cuppa.
Very enthusiastic and did everything I asked of them and more.

Can't help but think that the GT-R guy must not have been available and perhaps you were fed "best guess" information? Haven't met the service manager myself, believe he was on holiday for the last couple of weeks.

Hope to meet you locally sometime soon mate:) and may need to check out JM Imports as an alternative after warranty expires at end of May.

IMO if the service manager doesn't know what he's talking about better to say 'I will confirm a price and call you back' than quoting some ridiculous finger in the air price.

Hi mate,

Yeah it's been Mark I've been dealing with, didn't realise he was service manager of the whole place as well as GT-R dude. Thought he was covering for him. Either way, £900 for a couple of inspections is ridiculous, have to say I'd be put right off ever going back if he quoted me that too, maybe I should pop in and ask the same question....

Did get some horrifying quote of £2600 odd for a year's like-for like Nissan/Benfield warranty after mine expires in May now that I think of it.

I'll get a quote for brakes too just out of interest. Will post back.

Will check out Nobles, cheers! Let me know your experiences if you use them. Will keep an eye out for you on the road:cool:

I have been following this thread and suspected something wasn't quite right.

I have used Benfield since buying my GTR brand new in March 2010. I have always found then to be very helpful, knowledgeable and professional. I have used them servicing, optimisation, pre and post track day inspections and, recently, some repairs following a minor "off" on a roundabout.

I have always dealt with Mark and found him very fair and accommodating. Yes the hourly rate for labour is very high (£120 I think) compared to some independents, but if you want a cast iron warranty, unfortunatley you have to bite the bullet and play by the rules. I know Mark has done me a few favours when it comes to how much I have been charged, but this is what happens when you build up a good business realtionship with someone. I also have a good relationship with a local Kwik Fit who have just done me a full set of Bridgestone for under £1,200.

So, as this didn't look right to me, I phoned Mark to see what was going on with this thread, and he told me that he had actually quoted the original poster £300 in total for the pre and post inspection (he must be the same person as there can't be more than one Sunderland fan with a GTR ;)). This is in line with what I think I have paid in the past.

Whilst a lot of the comments on this thread are understandable in response to what was said, it looks like the orginal poster has either misunderstood what he was told, or he just wanted to stir things up a bit. Either way, the criticism of Mark Butler and Newcastle HPC is unfair.

I hope this gives a bit of perspective and balance to this subject (and no I don't work for Nissan or have any connection with Mark - just a happy customer with an awesome car).
