As per title, I have a set of OEM wheels IN BLACK taking up much needed space in the garage. The wheels have ZERO KERB MARKS and come complete with TPM sensors and centre caps.

They will probably go on eBay later this week, but I thought I'd give forum members a chance first.

Wheels are in Hertfordshire, and I'd really prefer collection only. They are massive, so would cost a small fortune to post I imagine.

Looking at other OEM wheel adverts they appear to be worth around £1000-£1200, so please make me an offer.....

(Tyres not included)

Cheers,

Paul.

I think I have held off long enough!!
Basically I have purchased 4 wheels with flat spots from Paul Alex.
I have sent him a PM and left a message on this thread with no reply.
When you drive over 120mph the dash board starts to jump and not to the beat to the music!
I have now paid to get these repaired but what annoys me is that this chap who has posted 51 threads just enough on this site to sell the these buckled wheels and now won't reply to my messages.
administrators could you please remove this guy from your forum! Total con..

This guy tried to sell these a few times and we binned the threads but he obviously snuck past our rader. The way he ignored the rules didn't bode well.

Not saying this is the issue but I bought some 21" COR Wheels from Jurgen (JM Imports) over a year ago now.

I collected them direct and had the tyres fitted. I came home fitted the wheels and seemed fine at first, then I noticed wobble around 70mph, come 100mph it was pretty bad, onwards progressively worse.

It was when the mile run was on in Wales and the morning before the event I was booked in with a INDY on the forum so took the car to them for my check up / service and asked them to check the wheels. I was told the wheels were buckled.

Upset I rang Jurgen less than happy although I collected them direct and he didn't actually handle them he was my point of contact (seller) so he collected the wheels from me in person (I'm 6 hour round trip from Jurgen). Between this I took it to a 3rd garage for complete confirmation who once again told me they thought the wheels were buckled as they couldn't get the balancing done.

Anyway the wheels went to a split rim / refurb specialist who has the facilities to fit stupid sized tyres to range rover wheels and all sorts who didn't take long to state nothing was actually wrong with the wheel but the balancing was out.

It was something to do with the cone they needed to use on this set of 21" wheels due to the offsets or something otherwise it'll be balanced incorrectly. I collected wheels, fitted them and had no issues, Marham did over 180mph numerous times no wobble, did a track day (freebie) no issues.

I know you've paid out for repairs now but 3 garages all told me my wheels were buckled when nothing was actually wrong. I know the OEM wheels are probably more common / easier to balance so it's unlikely but just wondering if that could of potentially been an issue?

I've done some investigating lol and if you read back through the sellers old posts, he bought these wheels from ebay with MPSS, fitted them to his car and experienced "wobble" then sold the wheels (without tyres) to innocent forum member with no contact once the product was no good.

I don't think the wheels have been refurbished for some time they had some scratches and paint chips around the rim but I want them for track use so not really bothered with minor scuffs etc when I bought them.
I had the wheels balanced by three differnt garages but it was only in the morning of the trip to the Ring I witnessed the last garage balancing the wheels when I noticed some minor very slight flat spots on the rim when they were spinning on the machine. So after getting the car ready for the trip I had a mad rush to refit my normal wheels with MPSS. Just made the ferry at Hull.
Not sure if the rears had the same problem but I'm picking them up tomorrow from
WheelGenie at Huntingdon. I have used these guys before straightening some BMW wheels that had the same problem after I hit a couple of pot holes. Top job and the receptionist is quite Hot! So worth the trip!
So hopefully they will be fine, just need to decide if I'm changing the colour? I have a gunmetal grey GTR any ideas what looks good for the track?

Cheers

How do you get flat spots on a wheel, dropping it on concrete without the tyre fitted?

Wheels

generally hitting potholes or speed ramps to fast. if the wheels have runflats then when you hit a pothole the stiff side wall transfers the energy directly to the rim.
This impact weakens the rim over time and can split / crack the inner rim.
BMW have replaced a set of wheels on my last car due to defective design that was identified on BBC watchdog, Audi have the same issue.
You need a strong wheel designed for runflats.

I've got the exact same issue with my BMW. How old was yours when BMW replaced the wheels? Wonder if I could get a new set out of them too?
