Hi Guys,

Before anyone lynches me :) I am a big fan of GT-Rs and am budgeting to get an R33 Vspec at the end of the year to replace my daily driver TTZ.. that said...

I'm wondering if any of you have parts lists from OS or other gearset suppliers from Japan - and if these parts lists have anything relating to Z32's. We've taken delivery of our Monster TTZ (go to 600plus.com to have a look) last week and want to find out what exactly it's got in the gearbox... as a stock TT will do about 70km/hr in 1st and this thing is pulling over 100 in 1st. my first couple of test drives I haven't been looking at the gauges to get an accurate speed reading, been too busy pointing it in a straight line...

TIA

Internals of the R32 and Z32 trannies are very similar...couple of differences but most stuff is the same... Input shaft is different , case is different

If it has an OS Giken gearset in it - it has a longer 1st gear... I have all the ratios somewhere...thanks Eric..

thanks

Many thanks for that ! I'll get the Techtom out next time I go for a drive in it and work out exactly what the ratios are.

Your comment about internals being the same is on the money. I've had listed somewhere as the Z ratios being 3.21, 1.93, 1.3, 1, 0.75.

You guys must chew up the 4th gear synchros then.. always a pain in the a** on Z's the good ole crunching 3rd-4th gear syndrome..

4th gear

Yup, on the 32/33s this gets crunchy :( .... Is there a reason for that (apart from it being the 1.000 ratio?)

I think it's the synchros getting worn out, the 3rd-4th shift is the quickest one in the box (particularly if you've got a super short c's shifter heheh) and the synchros just don't have time to get into the right place.

Also depends a lot on oil. All the Z guys in the states swear by Redline oil which seems to improve the shifting... I doubt it does to any great degree, when I'm out on the racetrack I have to wait an eternity before I can shift into 4th. I put Motul Gear 300 in mine which did make a slight difference but not a heck of a lot.

I've resigned myself to pulling out my gearbox and replace synchros and bearings :(
