I was under the car yesterday sorting out another job & noticed there is a sensor in the PAS line from the pump & the wires have broken off, I've tried searching but not had much luck. There are no lights on the dash & car seems to drive ok, anyone know if it is a pressure switch & if so what effect does it have disconnected or is purely a switch for warning low pressure?

I had the same thought I know the sensor feeds the ecu, possibly for a load detect. As I've got an after market ecu it is basically redundant. Unless someone can say that the sensor feeds something else also.

When pressure is detected it operates the high idle.

Do your rev dip a little when turning the steering?

Ah, ok, try it. They should rise a little. By about 50 revs or so.
