I need to run a small power feed into my engine and thought about the plunger type thing that the alarm uses to sense the bonnet is open. Now is the voltage to going the this when the bonnet is shut or when open.I would be good if i could use this as it would switch on when the bonnet is opened and not all the time..Someone must know.. I dont have a tester/volt meter to try and see.

Switch

Its not a voltage, when you open your bonnet you put an Earth on that line and that is what the alarm senses.:)

So if i use the switch as an earth and find a permanent live the voltage would still be cut when the bonnet is shut--is this correct?

two things

1.) don't use a photocell, thats a stupid idea. lol

2.) you can buy cupboard switches which only come on, when the door of the cupboard stops depressing the switch.

if you modified one of these it would work perfectly
