My R33 is currently experiencing problems at high revs.

At about 7000rpm the engine appears to struggle and wont go any higher. It's hard to describe but the engine sounds as if it's spluttering. I've recently had a Blitz induction kit fitted but have still got the original air-flow meters. Other than that the turbos etc are all standard and it's running standard boost. the only other major change of late is a bigger exhaust.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Might be the plugs.
My R33 was a bit like that before the Trust Iridiums were fitted.
Seems almost like a combination of fuel starvation and misfiring.
Hope this helps

I'd say the plugs will help, but it sounds like it going lean which is bad, bad news.

you need a couple of super afr's or a power fc.

Thanks gents.

It's due for a service in a couple of weeks so I'll get the plugs upgraded and better FCs.

Cheers

Hi John
Blitz induction with Nismo exhaust and standard ECU no problems but when I changed to HKS plugs it helped the tick-over and seemed to pull harder at the top end.
Well worth the £100 or so rather than going the ECU route.
Did it have any Det problems on the dyno ??
Hopr this helps

Alan,

Thanks I'll let you know after the service.

Never made it to the last Dyno day due to a funeral, so i'm waiting for Guy to organise another one.

Speak to Gary/Tim/Abbey etc ref heat ranges on plugs before you buy some as it depends on what state of tune as to what heat plug you fit.:D
Happy New Year
