opened up the bottom end of my mates r32 gtr tonight(spun shell on number 2).

now that we seem to have found the problem whats next.

bottom end is standard.

crank looks good, even ok whare the spun shell was(not as mint as the others but ok).
any reason why it would be number 2?
would a polish and new shells be enough?

whats the best shells to go for?
is a virgin/new crank the way to go? if so how much do they go for?

any other advise before the rebuild?

sorry abt the noob like questions guys(first gtr).

Do a search, There is heaps on this.

Big thing to check is if the crank is an early one and has a short oil drive nose (Have a look at the oil pump and see if it has a 5mm bit worn in the drive) If so you will need to get a Jun or similar drive collar.

Go for some better shells (ASL? Race seem to be the choice of many)

Go for a better oil pump (Hell expensive, but worth it, don't bother with a Nissan N1 pump)

Go for a Sump extension or Flappy sump baffle (Tomei)

Get a Oil restrictor on the top of the block to reduce the amount of oil sucked into the head

Yup, That is a late R32 or has had a R33 crank, so you don't need a collar there.

...here's a vid to show the difference (Thanks Sean)

P.S

The block number will have RB26 above it, and will be stamped on an unpainted area.
