Hi, we have another R32 thats cutting off at 5000rpm when driving but on idle she will rev up clean to 7000rpm.
A bit of history prior to this problem, we imported this car from Japan to South Africa, car drove fine but the car had a water leak on one of the rubber hoses just below the intake mani.
We stripped the intake off and changed most of the rubber pipes and sorted the leak out etc but now have the cutting off issue at 5000rpm

Any ideas as to what it could be, car just breaks up badly and would not go past 5000rpm when driving it, boosts and dumps when you change before that rpm.:confused::confused:

What is your setup? Boost? Tune ect.

For now,

Gap your plugs down to .8mm, then down to .6 if it still breaks up. I had to add an HKS DLI and still gap down to .6mm to run 2.2 bar. At .8mm I would get the same breakup you describe at 1.8 bar. Feels like a fuel cut of sorts.

proabally the coilpacks have broken down (can you hear a clicking noice at all)
i would borrow a working set from another car and take it up the road
if not them then the coilpack amp is another pita
other than that usual clean up of the afm should find it

thanks for the reply, I found no.5 cylinder to have plug miss, fitted a new plugs and miss went away but now we seem to have bigger issues as the car is starting to smoke badly and oiling up no.5 plug, so I guess we need to pull the head off and check whats up there.:bawling:

Is it possible to remove head with intake and turbos still on, looks very possible.

Did you do leak test? You might have done rings on (at least) No. 5.

Hope no bits have gone through to turbo!

Normally people drop engine out through bottom (if you have a ramp).

not leak test done yet but we want to change all rings and mains with block on car as we have no ramp available and want to avoid removing motor if possible.

Just saw this, had something like this before.
It was a loose connection on the plug to the cam angle sensor.

Pull it off, reconnect it, works fine after.
Hope that is your problem.

Yes issue was sorted by changing the plugs and re-gapping to 0.8 but now car is smoking and oiling no.5 plug, so looks like we going to have redo the motor on this one.
Parts are abit hard to get in South Africa so its on hold for now unti, we need to source gasket sets, bearing, rings etc that affordable to import here before we strip.
