Hey guys. I'm looking to my first GTR but every add I read .........changed this month ago....changed that 3 month ago or changed something else 6 month ago..... do they realy brake that mutch or everyone just trying to be flash and trying to pull wool over my eyes that they maintain their cars perfectly and just because they have too mutch money they do that???
R33 are they realy that unreliable ???

There just as reliable as any other car of its AGE!!
People seem to forget that they are getting on a bit now
Now go and take a look at other adds for the same sort of age of car and see what has been replaced and fitted.
Reliability also depends on mods. The more mods, the more things to go wrong but if you find a good en you can enjoy many miles of hassle free driving pleasure

Thats where the problem is, when you look at any other car the same age all it says "FSH" Nothing else. I just thought if you have one of GTR's going to mechanic is the same as going to supermarket to do your weekly shopingjimfortune said:There just as reliable as any other car of its AGE!!

I think the reason why people always say "oil changed every 3k" or so is purely because the majority of owners love their cars like a member of the family and want to make sure that everything is always running as sweet as it possibly could.
Changing the oil every 3k or so is purely a method to make sure that engine wear and the turbo are always going to have the best environment possible to do their job at providing the most fun driving the car possible.
(and remember, some of these cars are pushing double the horsepower that your average Civic Type R has, so they need some love, care and attention )

)also, it might be worth remembering that Skylines still have 'weak' points like any car and the owner might just be pointing out that known areas of concern have been covered/replaced recently. As has already been said these are supercars and should be compared to them - see how reliable or costly a European/American thoroughbred would be and you might just get the point.
I've owned my R33 for a couple of months now, and nothing's gone wrong, let me down or broken so far.
IMO an enthusiast and knowledgable owner will always look after their car and replace thing regardless of cost if it means they can enjoy their passion 24/7/365

seriously, there are too many people out there who purchase these machines and within a couple of months they are looking to sell because they cant afford the insurance/running costs etc.
Think it out carefully before you take the plunge
i think it also shows an honest seller to a degree.....
how many focus or escort owners tell you everything.....

Mine is running 400bhp and i managed once to drive from Dunkirk to Plymouth which was about 320 miles (i was driving pretty slow but i wanted to see what i could get.)
