Having just had a good nose at the pics of an R34GTR up for sale.....

Is it just me or is the interior of the 34 beginning to date quite badly.....

I keep having to remind myself that these cars are now coming up for 7 years old.

Why do they command such a high price?

It´s just you,when the R34 GTR interieur is clean and in nice condition,then i would say it looks very good,if you do some nice leather to the standard seats,it looks awesome. But,it still is a japanese car,so there is a lot of plastic in it.

I think all 32, 33, 34 interiors are naff. I have never liked leather interiors, so they do nothing to improve it. The brushed aluminium in 34s looks awful.

I do however, like the suede type covering on some race cars. Never seen it in a road car.

Mind you, the interior of a 996 is awful in my opion, and the Cayenne to boot.

Very cheap.

Yep I'd agree....I dont think any skyline interior is quite dated but as you've said they are 7+ years old now.

You dont buy a skyline for it's interior though

That 'suede' stuff is alcantara, an expensive faux-suede that is used in racing for steering wheels and seat upholstery for it's high-grip properties.

It also absorbs sweat (when on steering wheels) and wears badly, you really need to use gloves (just like racing drivers). On street car seats it absorbs any liquid spills and is *very* difficult to clean up as new afterwards.

In general, a right pain. But then that's just like a pair of suede shoes I had years ago: looked great until my first time out in the rain, then looked shabby ever afterwards. First and last pair.

No, but when you spend a few hours a week parked on one of our lovely motorways, it helps.

As far as alcantara on steering wheels go it's a common complaint on the M3 CSL board, whiney gits.

Can't remember, as whenever I drive it, I tend to be looking where I'm going rather than what I'm sitting in !
