Hi all,
Just wondering how common the r34's speedo being out is? And whether it would affect the odometer reading at all?

I have to go roughly 80mph on the speedo for GPS devices (and it appears other cars) to be going 70mph.

I found another thread from a few years ago with a similar issue but no-one seemed to really come up with a definitive answer as to why it was doing it or if it would affect the odo or not ( http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/120111-r34-uk-speedo-out.html )

Could it just be a dodgy sensor in the gearbox or possibly the speedometer conversion? (I assume its an electronic conversion? Import guys did it for me so don't even know what type it is)

Cheers,
John

p.s. Please excuse the fact I'm posting a lot of questions, being new to r34 gtr ownership and having spent lots of money on this car I'm probably being overly paranoid, but thank you all for your patience!

Hi John

I had a similar problem with the speedo in my 34. The electronic pulse convertor from KM's to MPH was miles (!) out, so I had this removed, then sent my speedo dial away to have the MPH figures re-applied where the more accurate KM's were positioned around the dial.

My car now records distance in KM's but shows the MPH a lot more accurately than before.

And, no, don't ask me where I had the conversion done, it was 10 years ago !!!!

Thanks for the quick reply Robbie, so it could just be a dodgy converter you think?

I'll have to see about getting another one, swapping it over and seeing if that helps I guess?
