Just have to share this GT-R story with a few of you because I'm still smiling about it a week later....
Was driving my new Gun Metal Black Edition a few days ago and instead of taking me along a certain road , the satnav takes me off sooner along some piece of tarmac I never knew existed.
Turns out this stretch of road is almost totally deserted, miles long and much of it dead straight......one week after the cars 1200mile Optimisation, this was looking like heaven.
So....I'm poodling along at 90ish in the fast lane and one of the really basic Ford Focus' comes hurtling up behing me so close I actually thought he hadn't seen me and was going to rear end me at 90. I accelerate to 100ish but no, this isnt enough, he starts flashing his lights at me. Now bear in mind I have the Mrs in the car with me so I cant just drop the hammer and leave him for dust so I gradually accelerate a little more to around 110. Focus man is STILL behind me 10 feet away flashing his lights and indicating to overtake me.
This was not any souped up focus, looked to me like a 1.6 / 1.8 bog standard dagenham dustbin so I'm getting kinda pissed off at this stage and accelerate to 115mph. He's still there hassling me at 115 so I apologise to the wife and say "sorry darling, this guy is really getting on my tits now.....I'm going to boot it"
I look in the rear view mirror and hes about 20 feet behind me doing 115mph still flashing his lights so I just floored it.....................upto 135 / 140 in a fraction of a second.
I looked in the mirror as I pulled away from him and the image I will remember forever was his engine just totally exploding and all of the motorway behind me being totally full of thick blue smoke, one assumes from oil pouring into his now totally shagged cylinders
I dont know how well this story translates for you folks as I type it but all I can say is that the idea of a 1.6 focus taking on a near 200mph GT-R is not exactly clever and to try it until you actually blow up your car is IMHO fairly hysterical. I was laughing so hard I had tears rolling down my cheeks.
If all of you enjoy your GT-Rs half as much as I am enjoying mine it will be the best 60k you ever spend.
Have Fun
