Recently purchased a 2010 R35 GTR and noticed I have the common rust bubble forming near the mirror.

What is the best way to claim against the 12-year anti corrosion warranty and get this rightly fixed by Nissan?

I took the car to my local dealer Westover Nissan today and they were less than helpful, used every excuse in the book to fob me off - said it wasn't a dealer problem, it would come under the 3-year paint warranty (now expired) not 12-year warranty, it wasn't corrosion - etc etc. Only thing they did was give me the Nissan Customer Service number (01923 899334) to get rid of me.

What are the next steps everyone recommends? I haven't called Nissan yet as I want some advice from other owners who have had this same issue and managed to get results.

Unfortunately the next steps are probably something like this....

...go to another Nissan dealer, find another equally unhelpful person who will take some photos of the car and say that they'll send them off to Nissan.....and then during several follow up calls where you chase for an update you'll be lied to, fobbed off, and several weeks later find out that they didn't actually send them off anyway because their employee that deals with warranty paintwork doesn't think that Nissan would ever uphold the claim...

....then get more disheartened with Nissan, but go to another dealer to be told that it would be covered under the 12 year warranty, but because you haven't got a full Nissan service history with the paint checks stamped up, that Nissan won't uphold the claim. They'll say that they'll sent the photos off to Nissan, but you wait so long for a call that you just bite the bullet, go and get some quotes and pay for it yourself...

I've had my passenger side sorted by my dealer.... Drivers side next!!

No issues! Just photos taken by dealer, then advised couple of months later work was authorised.

I thought this might be the case.

Yeah, I was waiting for the inevitable "you do not have full Nissan service history" excuse to avoid paying out for corrosion bodywork claim. (Wtf?)

I have spoken to Nissan direct using the number provided, opened a case and followed up with photos via email. Will keep this thread updated with progress. Wish me luck!

Any other experience from other owners who have had success would be great if I hit a brick wall.

Their total lack of assistance and unhelpfulness was enough to stop me ever buying from them, and I was potentially after a Qashqai to add the the fleet.

On their £60k+ flagship model developed to try and change their image and attract new customers! All for their dealers and service network to destroy it again.

Is this a common problem on ALL R35's or just the earlier MY's?

I'm sorry, no matter how much I love the GT-R, when the time comes I'm not going to sink £40+ K into a nearly new car that has rust issues so early on.

New A45 AMG looks a tempting alternative at this rate.

Like someone said above, the new Quashqi would probably be bought at a similar time too.

Sadly Westover are one of the worst NHPC's from the clown sales man Gerard to the kid Darren who does the servicing...appalling customer service, hence why they sell so few cars and most of the service customers that I know now use people like Litchfield.

At least it wasn't just me then, will definitely not be going back! Fingers crossed Nissan UK will help directly, will keep this thread updated in case anyone else is in the same situation.

More positive response from Nissan - received a call back already today, the day after raising the issue with them directly.

More constructive response from a much more helpful Nissan rep - said they are going to speak with Westover Nissan and try and have the car back in to get some more detailed photos and go from there after discussing it with their in house GTR specialist at Nissan.

I would prefer not to go back to Westover Nissan, but when I asked for an alternative dealer the closest HPC was 2 hour drive...

I've had the run around with this today. Only had the car 2 weeks but when I bought the car I discussed it with the previous owner. He said he'd spoke to Nissan and they would sort it out. He gave me the number and contact. I tried local Nissans first as the contact location was in Bishop Stortford, some 4 hours drive. After speaking to her she said to come down with the car and they with measure the paint thickness and take pictures. She has had success everytime with fixing the issue. I'll try Middlehurst tomorrow as it's closer, but if all else fails, It's a 4 hour trip.
