Hi guys, unexpectantly i just bought another GT-R replacing my last one after my mishap back in November. It has 77k on the clock so I’m looking to get the timing chains replaced very soon and I’m wondering if anyone has had it done recently and what was the overall cost? I’ve been quoted just over £2300 from a well known gtr specialist. Is this a good price??? Any feedback would be great.
Thanks Brett

ACSpeedtech replaced mine when they carried out a forge build, however, I think they did this simply because the engine was out/taken apart.

I didn't think the chains had a service life unless you have a reason to believe they are defective?

I seem to recall a related thread last year which discussed this - try a search.

The chains get noisy when they are worn. If the engine is not making a clattering noise they are probably OK, if regular engine oil changes are carried out that seems to stop the issue. Mine is at 78,000 miles now and I have 6 monthly oil changes, chains are still relatively quiet.

Ac speedtech recommend to change at around the 80,000miles mark and as mine is at 77-78k I’m looking to get it done for piece of mind. Ac speedtech are way to far to travel to for me unfortunately otherwise I’d be taking it there as Andy has given me some great advice in the past. I’ve been told it’s about a 12 hour job engine in and out, so that means the parts are very expensive, the aim of this thread was to see if there was any comparison prices from any other forum members.
Thanks for your input though guys much appreciated.
