Well I definitly have a rake in fourth gear if I shift with any speed.

I know that my clutch is on the way out due to the high pedal travel and that lovely asbestos smell, but I wonder if I have trans damage as well. I mean there was a definite grind when shifting into fourth.

If I shifted slow, I guess the synchros had a chance to catch up, and there was no noise. But on a fast shift...... not good.

Do you guys think that my clutch is the culprit or my tranny has issues?

Should I try changing the gear oil out? Should I use Synthetic? Try a different weight gear oil?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

mine does this...... i'm just assuming the synchro has gone.

If it take it easy its fine. If i try and snatch at it at high rpm it crunches. High rpm (maybe matched) with easy motion see's it slot home nicely!

I'm running fully synthetic 75w90 gearoil, no difference.

The synchro's can be replaced though cant they? rather than a complete new box. Not sure on cost though!
